Appearance

Mallory’s been rotting away for a while now, her fur is clean but falling away with her skin in places like her cheek, her arms, and her tail. Certain places of her skin are split to reveal the occasional shifting muscle and bone while she walks or moves. Other than the obvious falling apart, she stands 8’5 with mostly black and gray fur, striped ears, deep grey eyes, and black hair that sits at her tail, with a sort of choppy look to it, courtesy of a salon previously named ‘Low Branch’. Her snout and form resemble that of a dire wolf, and her previously comfortable lifestyle shows in what’s left of her rather thick and soft-looking body, hiding a surprising amount of strength. As a whole, she’s not the friendliest looking but strives to be as clean as she can manage without the help of a necromancer to pick up what she can’t. Probably smells of seawater.

Due to her stature and race her current attire consists of one of her tents; loosely draped off her head and shoulders to act as a cloak to protect herself from both prying eyes and the damned sun. A tarp was ripped and tied around her form to keep the essentials covered, and until she finds a tailor that makes clothes her size- she’ll shift around and make do with what she has.

Personality

Mallory’s maternal instinct is perhaps the one thing she retained in undeath. Even without her children, she seeks to nurture and protect that which she holds close. It's made difficult by the fact that she’s so worn down from her time in undeath, as the overwhelming majority of people she encounters aren’t interested in being mothered by a rotting dog. Even so, she’s fiercely loyal, and will aggressively protect that which she considers her own. That is to say it's easy for Mallory to become attached to someone, curiosity leading to a conversation, to friendship, and that's all she needs to consider you family, for her to rip someone apart for you.

She finds herself forlorn a lot of the time, lost in thought and spacey. Sometimes, her stillness is so severe that she’s easily mistaken for an actual corpse rather than a Dunash. Despite her periods of deep thought and reflection, she does have a goal and watches what’s ahead of her through tunnel vision. It’s easy to lose her in casual conversation when questions give way to complicated answers; she's by no means stupid but its hard for her to keep track of the topic.

History

Mallory was born in Icheron, to a pair of Rathor looking to make a shop in a small town. She lived an uneventful life, taking after her mother in tailoring, who’d have to constantly make more clothes for the growing girl (there weren’t a lot of bigger Rathor in their tribe). Eventually, she'd moved on from one place and went to another; meeting her mate and making an income by making and repairing clothes and whatever else was requested of her. Except of course; when she became a mother. Within the time span of 3 years, she'd given birth to two boys, a zebra as the eldest and a snapping turtle, two writhing bundles who'd nip at her ankles and make a mess of her workspace. She'd found her purpose in raising her children, as domestic as a dream as it was. Around the youngest’s sixth year is when her mate lost his life to a hunting accident, he'd apparently gone after something just too big, something too rabid. Whatever it was, it managed to shock the three remaining enough to dismantle their routine. Dinner was never at the same time and the stories Mallory would tell before bed were short, but time healed their wounds eventually they made peace.
More time passed and the boys were newly 15, and news of an army was spreading, an army that was getting considerably closer. Her first instinct was to take everything in savings and leave, but getting to even the edge of Icheron with two children and their things would take nearly all of their savings, and forever, considering it was unlikely any horse would carry her weight. It also didn't take long for the economy to shift, for clothes to be the least of anyone's concerns, and for their savings to dwindle down to a few df kept in a bag under her pillow. They took to selling the hides they had left, eating much less, but it was never enough to keep the family from losing those last few coins. Finally, the bag was empty, and so were their stomachs, and with nothing else to do, Mallory took to her neighbors’ homes and stole what she could find. It’s important to note she was terrible at it, she was huge, with no experience in theft other than whatever she could grab with chubby fingers in the cupboards as a pup. She was caught a number of times, in and out of the hands of a few guards who pitied her situation but couldn’t let her go regardless. Her time spent in and out of prison was usually brief, a few days to a week, a bit more if she’d tried to steal from someone wealthier.
It was during one of those days that the Dunash finally broke through the walls of their home and began their slaughter. It was a guard who let everyone out that day, the last courtesy, pity for their families, or maybe he just didn’t want to be responsible for the deaths of a few petty thieves who did what they had to get by. Either way, she escaped and rushed to her home that night. The door was already snapped off its hinges when she arrived, screams from her youngest echoing through every other cry she’d heard. Her children were already in the hands of two rotting corpses, with another roaming around the home to check for more. Her maternal instinct set off and she rushed them, throwing one off of her child in time for another Dunash to thrust a spear into her throat.

From then on, Mallory was a part of the war effort to claim all of Icheron, still going today. When she awoke as an undead Mallory was lost, her memory was shattered and without a clue as to wear her children went, she followed Y'shendra until she was sure the two weren't apart of her army. Up until half a year ago, she’d focused on finding them. She’d stayed with the army for a while and after discovering they were nowhere to be found, Mallory took a small boat from the edge of Icheron, and took it to The Grisith Empire. It wouldn't have taken so long, but with no knowledge of boating and even less knowledge of the safety of being in a storm, she was caught in a storm and everything toppled. Mallory lost all her things, but upon walking at the bottom of the ocean for a while, she made it just fine to land, where a couple of humans in the nude were scared off during her wandering on the beach. Luckily for her, they did happen to leave their horse and a few other things behind, enough for her journey to start again.
A quick change of clothes and she was off again, trying to ignore the fact that she still smelt of seawater after the third wash in a lake. Her rotting was second priority until it had gotten as bad as it was today, it'd started to get easy to peel off her skin like a sunburn, and when her tail started to fall off in pieces she made the decision to make a detour. It was depressing to see herself in a state where she knew her own children wouldn’t recognize her. With a bit of asking around, she discovered Daravin was a place to go to find a necromancer, as well as other mages. It's where she'd headed now, and where she'll stay until Mallory decides to start again.
