DETAILS
Vivian is a lanky young man just coming into his own. He is quite feminine in build, being narrow and long of limb, and this isn't helped by the generous application of makeup around his eyes or his outrageous style of dress. Frankly, the only thing that marks him as male at first glance is the fact that he is rarely found wearing a shirt no matter how cold it is. His pale skin is stidded with Tyrnac's Heritage, chiseled into facets along his shoulders and spilling between his shoulderblades. He keeps up with this mutation fastidiously, removing any fragments not in line with how he desires to look.
His tousled blonde hair is often dyed black or stripped down to white, depending on his mood, but is always kept short save for a meticulously groomed forelock. Appearances are quite important to Vivian, and he strives to maintain cleanliness at all costs. He has a unique talent for making the strangest of outfits work to his physique, likely out of necessity rather than genuine creativity.

Personality
Vivian is sarcastic and cutting, always on the defense with those he doesn't know. He is best described as an indolent cat; never one to obey unless in the mood, always with a disapproving look, and only accepts affection on his own terms. He always believes others to be either taking advantage of him for his looks or his wits, and never takes anything at face value. If nothing else he is a suspicious creature who has experienced far too much of the world in his short time on it to trust anything in it. It takes a patient hand to earn his trust...if he doesn't rob you blind first.
Vivian's string of failed romantic relationships, ranging from the mad mage Degare Socorro to the famous Gilded Alistair, have given him severe trust issues. Believing himself to be a pretty bauble that men pick up and throw away at a whim, he takes careful steps to guard his heart behind a thorny sense of humor. While his body is always up for grabs, his heart has begun growing a painfully bitter shell.
HISTORY
Vivian was born to a human mother and an elven father. The mother was interred in a brothel in Amoren, and the father remains unknown. Vivian was raised privately for the first year and a half of his life, usually passed around to the other whores in the brothel to take care of him while the others worked. As he grew old enough to understand his place in the world, he began to do more basic work such as cleaning, laundry, fetching small things for the girls and basic medical care. The madame of the brothel was pleased with how quickly he picked up on the importance of not being underfoot, and things like horseplay were quickly discarded in favor of learning how to filch things and care for himself.
Around puberty, larceny became a chief interest. While johns were occupied he would slip into the rooms and steal things from their discarded clothing. His small size enabled him to get in and out quickly, escaping notice and gaining enough pocket money to earn him a few luxuries. As he grew a bit older, he began working as a whore himself. He learned the basics of seduction, how to manage his appearance, and earned quite a bit of money due to his delicate features and large eyes.
At the age of sixteen one of his johns happened to be a Malformity mage. Picking up that Vivian wasn't just a pretty face but possessed quite the agile brain, he set out to Initiate the young half-breed without his consent. Vivian was locked in the barred room for three days while his Initiation settled, and came out at the end exhausted but possessing a mark resembling a beetle between his shoulderblades. For a few months he ignored the experience as a rather rough and ugly nightmare, but as time grew on he began to branch out. He started speaking to sparrows that visited the windows of his room, rats, mice, beetles, and parasites. Growing his skills has taken some time, but slowly and surely he worked on it.
Discovering his magehood led to him being turned out of the brothel and onto the streets to fend for himself. He has little idea of how to use his power other than directionless conversation and occasional shifting, and seeks a teacher to truly understand the ways of Malformity.
He found that teacher in a man named Degare Socorro. Degare found Vivian sneaking into his estate in Amoren, and negotiated with the whore for his Mark of Control. Vivian agreed to give his new Veir the Mark of Malformity as long as the man kept him in his home and taught him the basics of magic.
Degare proved a skilled, but vicious teacher. His abuse of Vivian, combined with a budding sexual relationship and the power imbalance, made for a truly toxic relationship between the two. Eventually, Degare vanished without a trace along with his partner, leaving Vivian alone in House Socorro. The House was taken over by another Veir, and Vivian found himself without a home once more. Back on the streets and struggling to survive, Vivian travelled to Radenor.
There, he met a Gilded by the name of Alistair Reid. The two had a quick and fiery affair, and due to Vivian's newly developed mutations...he became pregnant. The original plan was to marry before the birth, but Alistair vanished just as Degare had before him. This left Vivian on the streets of Radenor, alone and struggling to hide his identity. Unfortunately, he was caught by the Mage's Guild and their beloved pit dog Hakon. The Mage's Guild granted him shelter and food, at the cost of his freedom.
Vivian conspired to free himself, as the Mage's Guild vowed to take his child from him the moment it was born. There was only one answer to the question of captivity...salvation lay in Ascension. By consuming the pieces of souls stolen from the captive mages by the Guild, Vivian was able to ascend and become a true thief of faces. Unfortunately, the ascension also triggered the birth of his son Laurent. Hakon, having befriended Vivian, granted him mercy and the ability to escape his captivity with his baby.
Now, as of Ash 4623 Vivian has returned to Deravin to raise his baby alone. He lives quietly in a rented home outside of Amoren, and rents his body out to the men of the village either as a beast of burden or a way to shelter from their wives.
