☠ 50th of Ash, Year 120, Earth's Rest ☠
Company: Amir| Theme: | Thoughts: My body aches| Mood: Exhausted, Determined

☠ With everything going on and the fact the person was responsible for the break still being at large, I wanted to take my mind off of it if only for a moment. I asked Amir to join me for some weapon training, which he eagerly agreed to, saying he has been wanting to toughen me up since he heard of my skills from my father. I was curious as to his meaning behind those words but I would know soon enough once he arrived.

Some moments had passed when I heard the sound of footsteps coming from my left and saw Amir approaching, carrying two large swords in each hand. They were massive, much larger than any other weapon I had seen up till now. "Glad to see you here, and even more so for our training today." he greeted, planting both weapons into the ground. "I hope you don't mind that we use live weapons for this little sparring match of ours. It gives the training a more real sense of authenticity if you ask me." he proposed, not that I could refuse him.

"Care to tell me what today's training is?" I asked, curiously looking at the two greatswords in front of me. He smirked and then proceeded to take one of them. "That little needle sword of yours is nice and all, but if you want to truly be effective in combat, especially on the battlefield, you'll need a weapon that can end a fight quickly." he explained, coming to place the weapon in my hands.

It took most of my strength to hold the weapon, it being far heavier than I anticipated, yet Amir held it with ease and in one hand no less. I was impressed by his strength but felt somewhat inferior to him in that regard. "I see, though I don't think I could wield this effectively," I began but Amir was not having any of it. "As a member of Die Scnitter, not to mention someone in your particular position, you need to be a well-rounded combatant, not stagnant one single weapon." he commanded, picking up the other greatsword and performing basic swings.

"With practice, you will become good at wielding it, getting familiar with its weight until it feels normal in your hands, now begin." The first exercise I began with was the "Power Strike" as he called it, an exercise that develops and builds the muscle in my legs, butt, back, shoulders, & arms. Holding the greatsword in front of my hips and it pointing downward, I placed my right hand on the sword’s hilt ridge and left hand just above it.

I inhaled as I raised my arms over my head, bending my elbows so that the sword was parallel to my back. Exhaling I rotated my torso to the left and extended my arms, striking the sword down to the left. Raising it back to the starting position, I repeated the process but this time rotating to the right, to complete 1 rep. I would continue this for 5 sets of 20 reps for a total of 100 reps, or in my case till exhaustion.

Indeed at some point, it felt as if my arms and legs would fall from my body. Just bending them hurt, and unfortunately, I wasn't done, as Amir had more in store for me. He chuckled seeing my body in such dismay patting me on my sore back. "To be honest I wasn't expecting you to make it this far, let alone 50 reps in total. But that's good, means you are in shape and that this won't hurt as badly as you may think it will."

"Now onto the next exercise." he continued, a cheerful and enthusiastic glee in his tone. This one, the X-slash, as he called it seemed easy enough, but my body was already hurting from the previous one, simply just striking the blade down in a diagonal fashion left to right and vice versa. Once he was down demonstrating, it was my turn to put it into practice.

I had to endure this, however, as it would all pay off for my good in the long run I suppose. After a few minutes of rest and water, I stretched and went into another exercise as instructed. Grabbing the hilt of the greatsword once again with both hands, got to work, taking my time and getting used to the motions. Once I got the range of motion down packed, I repeated the process.

Even it meant burning myself out, I would give it all I had with each rep. After finishing to exhaustion with the left swing, I then switched my grip so that the swing would come to my right side instead. Now stepping forward with the alternate foot, I pushed out another set till exhaustion. In truth after this workout, I would need a few days' worth of rest for sure. I couldnt see how soldiers and knights did this on a regular basis, but if it meant being able to fight better then I'd gladly endure it.

Amir was impressed, the look of surprise on his face as he came to stand over me. I could move, my body had given up and as I rested I looked to Amir with a forced smile. "I've got to hand it to you, I wasn't expecting you to last, but you survived my training. Most soldiers buckle under my regiments." he added, giving me a hand so I could get on my feet again.

After a few moments, clear his throat and placed the battle-ax I was practicing with next to me. “Once you can do those exercises effortlessly, it will become easier to do later on. I’ve also seen people attach some sort of weight-system to their weapon, but that seems unnecessarily complicated to me. Your endurance will improve automatically if you adhere to this regiment.

I would also encourage that you begin to create your own style of combat with the weapon, it will make wielding it far easier in the long run in my opinion.”
, he finished and turned to face me. “Do you have any questions?” he asked.

Listening to his explanation it made sense and I would definitely be creating a rigorous regiment of my own to help fortify my skill and body in order to effectively wield this greatsword as Amir could. This was advice that was invaluable to me, as it was key to overall growth. Hearing him ask if I had any questions, I shook side to side as I declined. "No, I believe you have given me all the info and knowledge I would need. I can use this to formulate a plan or regiment to help build my strength. I do highly appreciate the time you spent training me, I won't take it in vain." I said with a wave of my hand.

I went to hand him the sword but he shoved it back in my direction. “No no, that is for you, a welcoming gift into the family.” he said with a smirk. For a moment it was quiet between them. The Amir decided to break that silence with words I didn't expect to hear. “I honestly don't think you are cut out for this line of work, but your father insisted we bring you in. But I can see the determination in your eyes, so for that I commend you.”

After enjoying my little break I decided it was time to get back to work, this training wasn't going to finish itself. I decided the best course of action right now was to keep up with the basic movements that Amir had shown me. Unfortunately, my body had other plans, as I couldn't move a muscle. I couldn't lift up the greatsword given to me by Amir, my muscle and body at their limit for today. The good thing is that I could try again once my body had had its rest, it's time to recuperate.

With a hearty laugh Amir came to my aid, helping my aching self back into the Hospital where I could get some much needed rest. I had to admit though, I was truly not suited for this warrior life, but I would keep at this as I could give up, not now. ☠
