☠ Die Schnitter ☠

Origins
  • To equate Die Schnitter as a simple gang, or band of occultist would be a pale underestimation of the group as a whole. Die Schnitter, known as "The Reapers", is a sophisticated cabal of assassins, necromancers, philosophers, and spies ran by a cunning and ambitious Nicoli Von Faust. Running strong since the year 110, this organization has been under speculation for numerous acts of murder, espionage, selling of illegal contraband and trading, as well as unethical practices, but nothing concrete in the forms of an investigation has been made.

    Masquerading as a medical science guild, this secret society has been working for the elite of Lorien since its founding given the connections it has built over the years, earning them a reputation for fulfilling the needs of clients to the letter. Though small in the grander scheme of shadowy networks and dealings, Die Schnitter has earned themselves quite the reputation, a guild of class, decorum, and most of all efficiency.

Structure

Die Schnitter is broken into five different facets/branches of the operation. Administration, Special Forces, Intelligence, Influence, Medicine & Research encompass the cabal outfit, Nicoli as well as four other necromancers being in charge of it all.

  • Ⅰ} Administration:
    - Virtually the command center of Die Schnitter, in which operations and assignments are formally given, as well as overall control and leadership over the rest of the organization. The Mind of the cabal, Nicoli Faust, is otherwise known as the de facto leader of the cabal. Granted all of the Pale ones hold equal power, he has the ability to veto any decision he feels will endanger the cabal and its interests. In a sense, the administration facet is the control center, and closest to the center of the cabal as a whole. Monitoring the general activities of both the cabal and the fluctuations of Lorien society as a whole is also their job.
  • Ⅱ} Special Forces:
    - From wetwork operations to message couriers, the special forces of the Die Schnitter are a well-rounded facet of Die Schnitter. Primarily, the special forces facet maintains the stealth operations shinigami of Die Schnitter. Amongst their ranks, you will find the quickest of the quickest, as well as those who excel in hand to hand combat, as well as saboteurs of all kinds. Assignments of this facet vary from assassinations or infiltrations, to mop up operations to kidnapping and even protection. However, jobs that need to be done quick and clean are their main tasks. There are no mistakes allowed to those within the special forces, and a strict sense of leaving no trace behind is established to the members.
  • Ⅲ} Intelligence:
    - Information is power, and power is key, and this facet of the cabal knows this best. Gathering intel on the Lorien nobility, incoming threats, and so forth, is the general aim of the Intelligence facet. Amongst their ranks are those tasked with gathering detailed information and skilled thinkers. Before large scale missions and assignments, most likely, the intelligence facet is behind the information provided. They are often labeled as 'Eyes of the Cabal'. Many of the members are working-class members of society, and even minor nobility has been seen among their ranks. They are also with the duty to protect any intelligence that has been gathered and to keep it from leaking to the public or enemies. Protecting archives and documents within the HQ and other sanctums are also within their line of duty. Aside from protecting information, they also organize tactics and plans for large scale missions and often take charge of the methods used and created in case of a direct assault on cabal.
  • Ⅳ} Influence:
    - The influence facet handles all the recruitment, money, relations, as well as maintaining their public image as a mere medical science guild through manipulation, bribery, maintaining relations with the wealthy, and even extortion. Agents under this facet are often found in taverns, brothels, market squares. Their mission is simple; sporting opportunity when it is right in front of you. This facet, although it seems like a simple task, takes the position of regulating the relationship between the cabal and their supporters. Their forces are used diligently to keep the peace between themselves and those that back them and even potential investors.
  • Ⅴ} Medicine & Research:
    - The Medical & Research facet deals with the brunt of the healing & innovation of medicine when it comes to the sick. While the agents in this division, mostly doctors and necromancers working side by side, they do have the ability to fight if the need arises as they are trained in martial arts such as hand to hand combat and basic weapon skills. Members of this facet are in general medical experts and are often out in the field in hospitals or plague-ridden areas for study and research. They are also responsible for all researching necromantic augmentations and the creation of new cures and diseases, as well as recording and storing any new findings they come across. Members of the M & R facet are handpicked from the best medical minds of the kingdom and undergo additional training to refine their understanding of medicine and necromancy.

The Pale Ones

The Pale Ones make up the upper echelon of the Die Schnitter, holding council on how to deal with threats to their power. Masters at advancing necromantic talent and discovery, as well as masters of espionage, as well as clean up operations. This group is primarily interested in those who deal in "subtlety", their talents more seen than spoken of. The nature of business for the faction deals in the unique types of contracts. Though they all share equal power in the organization, a Pale Lord is always in charge of one of the five branches of the organization.

Facet Jurisdiction: Administration
Race: Human/Hytori
Age: 66
National Origin: Lorien
Details:Nicoli is a complex man, known to many as being serious, calculating, and always planning far in the future. He acts as though he feels nothing for human sympathy and ethics, believing that absolute immortality is the only path to discovering the truth in the world. While his blunt and unconventional honesty may not make him popular among other people, his keen insight and cunning are what earn him bitter-sweet respect with others.

Showing no mercy to his foes and believing that every instance is apart of his plan, Nicoli fervently strives to obtain his goals regardless of the risks. Nicoli is often seen as a very grim individual. He accepted all news, good or bad, mockery or praise, with a stoic attitude. As pragmatic as they come, he has had to make some harsh decisions, some resulting in casualties, and some resulting in mutual allies. He will do anything within his power to obtain them. Underhanded tactics are not above his stature; if he feels they give succor to his cause he will use them.


Ellisan Savestine

Facet Jurisdiction: Medicine & Research
Race: Siltori
Age: 56
National Origin: Sil-Elaine
Details: Ellisan has a gentle and warm personality despite her cold appearance. Known to be a soft-spoken, polite, and caring woman who uses honorifics when addressing everyone, including her subordinates and the enemy. She rarely shows any signs of panic or distress and has a great sense of duty. Despite her sense of duty, she will also heal almost anybody around her, including her enemies, just for the sake of study. With her grace and kind manners, she lets others know quietly that while she may be soft, she is not to be underestimated. Despite her gentle nature, several members of Die Schnitter and even her fellow Pale One fear what she is truly capable of.

However, while she always is kind to others, she shows a disregard for life while performing her necromantic experimentation and research. She has been known to warn people of possible dangers when they present themselves, in order to save from unwanted casualties. As a world mage with a fervent thirst for knowledge, Ellisan despises anything that was perfect as she believes that achieving such a state leaves nothing more to strive for.

Xiang

Age: 35
National Origin: Kalzasi
Details: Xiang is a placid, mellow man who is apt to make cryptic Moreover, he is frequently accompanied by the female attendants of the opium den he manages. He refers to his legion of spies and informants as his "children", although there is no official blood relation. Xiang is, for the most part, principled yet inquisitive. He curries favor with those he thinks will allow him and his shadowy inquisition to advance and allies those who are ambitious, such as Nicoli and the Faust family.

He once suggested that he has no qualms about ingratiating himself within Lorien law enforcement, despite his criminal origins, so long as he can profit from it. Generally, he does not assist others without expecting payment{often information} in return. Accompanying his chaotic nature, Xiang holds a strong propensity for violence. Additionally, Lau is an expert in the use of interrogations or torture and knowledgeable about human anatomy knowing how much a person can handle before they break.

Amir Najida

Facet Jurisdiction: Special Forces
Race: Human
Age: 48
National Origin: Daravin
Details: The Pale Hammer, otherwise known as Amir Najida, is abrasive and not very approachable. He rarely shows emotion, giving a cold impression to others, picking up on the Yari way when dealing with non-marked individuals. His manner of speaking tends to be blunt and insulting, his comments are frequently coarse or otherwise harsh, and he is not above provoking or belittling those who irritate him. His sense of humor tends toward the dry, insulting, and dark. All of this makes him unsettling to a great number of people besides those that have come to know him.

Amir is known around the organization as the "War Incarnate", many who know him personally know him as the Manslayer. A notable Reaver and Necromancer, Amir takes pride in his martial and magical prowess as well as his knowledge in alchemy, making him a formidable opponent. His intellect matches his deadly martial skills and he has a harsh reputation in the area for it.


Veronica Oshenvelk

Facet Jurisdiction: Influence
Race: Human
Age: 38
National Origin: Atinaw
Details: If charisma was to take mortal form, one would look no further than Veronica Oshenvelk. Born with a silver tongue and a knack for seeing the value of the world around down to the last coin. As the head of I & R {Influence & Relations}, she is in charge of ensuring the financial stability and progress of Die Schnitter. This a very well-trusted woman and while she has no knack for fighting, though her true strength rests within her words and mind. Among the organization, Veronica is highly respected as she ensures everyone gets paid.

Known to be able to charm anyone she meets many within the group suspect she is a practitioner of Mesmer, but nothing has ever been confirmed. Her way with words allows her to sway others to fit her agendas, be it by investing in the medical guild Die Schnitter runs under, tips on rare and exotic items, or manpower. Nicoli chose Veronica specifically for this task as she is the only one capable of maintaining the face of the cabal.


Joining the Family

  • One does not seek out Die Schnitter, no if one shows promise and ambtion, the Die Schnitter will find you. With that said, entry into the "Family" is not hard as one simply needs to prove themselves to someone of Revanent Rank or Higher in order to be extended an invitation into the syndicate.

Ranking Tiers

Pale Ones

  • Role: The Pale Ones make up the upper echelon of the Die Schnitter, holding council on how to deal with threats to their power. Masters at advancing necromantic talent and discovery, as well as masters of espionage, as well as clean up operations. This group is primarily interested in those who deal in "subtlety", their talents more seen than spoken of. The nature of business for the faction deals in the unique types of contracts. Revanents

  • Role: They are renowned members from across the syndicate, hailed as the most skilled agents of their time. They are also in command of the organization's forces. They serve as a collective leadership force with its primary responsibilities consisting of:
    -The defense of the Pale Ones, and the security of Die Schnitter.
    -The deployment of agents on operations.
    -The training and specialization of agents in their facets
    -To maintain order throughout the organization.
    -To recruit potential members
    They are generally the most respected within their facet. They have extensively trained, if not mastered, their skills allowing them to use it effectively in battle. They are skilled in the use of their element & specific weaponry and generally have extensive battle tactics. All of these factors create a vast power gap between them and lower-ranked members.

Marrows

  • Role: The Marrows are the “Field Agents” of Die Schnitter. They seek out potential information, pass on potential members to the purview of a revenant, take on assignments assigned to them, and actively make strides to expand the influence of the syndicate. They are responsible for detecting and investigating new opportunities of the syndicate to establish their loyalty and climb the ranks. If any of the new members are found to be traitors, disloyal, or spies the Marrows have the duty to ferret them out and are solely responsible for "silencing" them. The Marrows carry the weight of the family on their shoulders and kill those who would dare make an attempt to defect from or leave if the need arises unless the individual is given expressed permission from a Pale one, which at that point the Marrow's job will be to monitor said person to ensure the secrets of Die Schnitter stay just that.......secret.

Hollows

  • Role: The Hollows are the lowest of the low-level agents; these are the people that the faction has made an exception for to join. They serve as general informants, and are nothing more; however, they are seen as the bravest of the faction members. They are in the most danger putting their lives and livelihood on the line in the interest of the Die Schnitter. They are responsible for keeping the existence of the syndicate and their involvement secret. Some however are given special tasks or missions if a higher ranking member sees potential in them

The Elusive Ones

  • Role: The Elusive Ones are a myth even among the members of Die Schnitter, as many believe these two do not exist, save for the Pale Ones who appoint them. They act as the left and right hands of the Pale Ones and answers only to their call. These two individuals are allowed to act on their own accord and do not have the requirement to follow mundane rules as the remainder of the group do. However, in the event that a dire situation comes up; they may elect to intervene with the situation. For the most part, Die Schnitter knows nothing about their existence among them as it is preferred for the Elusive Ones to blend in with the rest of the group. They will rarely ever see them, and when they do; they act bearing the authority of a Revenant rank member.

Headquarters

  • Ravencrest Hospital is the Headquarters of Die schnitter, located within Essen, at the center of Brandt. Bought through "legitamate" means, the former Masion was transformed into a hub of medicine and research thanks to the Die Schnitter. Built to withstand the test of time, this place has come to see many lives come, go, and fade away. Consisting of three floors with 15 rooms on each, this building plays host to Die Schnitter as they heal the sick, progress in medicine and necromantic research, as well as act as a front for the syndicate more "delicate" business.

    Generally, the hospital is run on the lowest floor of the building. When not in their rooms patients find themselves enjoying the peace of the Ravencrest Gardens. As the pride of the hospital, it was originally built by the original family head intended for his wife. It's been renovated by the Die Schnitter since its purchase and is the most respected place on the grounds. On the second floor is where all of the magic happens, research labs, study halls, and discussion halls aplenty can be found here. Each room is tailored to specific routes of study; Medicine/Necromancy/Alchemy/Runeforging/Ect.

    The top floor is off-limits to those not apart of Die Schnitter, is holds meeting halls, a grand library, and parlor room. This is where the business of the syndicate takes place, meetings are held and secrets are kept. The offices of the Revenants & the Pale Heart/Shadow/Hammer/Coin are found on this floor as well. The tower of the building - reaching up above the rest of the repurposed manor - is known as the Tower of the Dead among the members, as it serves as the personal office & lab to the Pale Crown.

☠ Motif: The Shriven Vengeance ☠
  • With the Black Sigil inscribed on him, Haldir will start to shift to becoming an Devil to hunt the , the personification of combat itself made flesh. As he progresses within the magic, the sigil intermingling with his soul more and more, Haldir gains the desire to cleave through those that defy death, burning away spirits and commanding flame, dominating the field of battle. In this way the sigil reacts to this desire and molds Haldir into the perfect weapon to fight the evil of the spiritual and unnatural - the Shriven Vengeance
Apprentice
Shriven Heart: Upon reaching Apprentice in the magic, a black sphere with a firey ring forms upon his chest which gives off a radiant glow in dim light or from under his clothes and gives off a comforting heat. From this nucleus, fiery engravings of Shrivenflame are etched into his skin. This mutations draws from Haldir's fascination by shrivenflame that it expresses this by igniting the flesh upon Haldir's limbs in Shrivenflame. The appendages do not burn or melt, and can touch materials and others without fear of harm or damage. With this mutation it sets the tone for the rest that will come as the bond between the sigil and Haldir will favor the power of flame over the spectral.



Journeyman
Shriven Demon: Upon reaching Journeyman, Haldir finds that his body now has spots along his chest, forearms, lower back, and thighs with demonic looking scales. He also sports two large aethereal horns of shriven flame as well as demonic like tail that extends from his tail bone to truly solidify himself becoming a monster to kill other monsters. It takes on a full length of 5ft and is 2ft in diameter. He can move this tail as if it were a natural part of his own body, and it is about as strong, fast and precise as his regular arms. With this mutation it allows for Haldir to breath streams of shrivenflame from his mouth like a dragon at the cost of aether equivalent to the amount of flame he spews. This mutation will mentally cause Haldir to seek and hunt down abnormal creatures, such as monsters, undead, blighted beings and most of all Dranoch. This urge manifests in the form of an itch in the back of his mind.


Expert
Shriven Coccoon: At this level of power healing himself with Exigency is as easy for Haldir as it is to breathe. Repairing himself and healing wounds is like a snake shedding its skin now to him and that aspect alone takes hold of a few of his abilities now. He is now capable of shedding his body or skin and emerging with a new body, even after limb dismemberment.

How this works is that Exigency now takes half as long to use, allowing for Haldir to recover much quicker at the expense of a moderate aether drain. This mutation takes the form of Shrivenflame engulfing around Haldir like a cocoon. Once his wounds are healed he will emerge in a burst of flames, as the ash of the old body falls away from the new healed form. Note: If he was beheaded, he would be dead. As for missing limbs, the graver the dismemberment the more aether it will cost for quicker regeneration{Ie: If he lost an ear it would take barely any aether to renew}, but a whole arm would have a greater aether drain. As for the ashen remains they serve no purpose, just for a flare.

  • With the Rune of Mentalism, Haldir will begin to mold himself into a master manipulator of the mind and forces around him. As his soul intertwines with the rune he will begin to see those around him more as pawns in the grander scheme of his ambitions becoming a cunning and dangerous individual - The Mind Binder
Apprentice
Emotional Synesthesia: At this level in Mentalism Haldir's five senses are now attuned to the Reverie and experiencing another's Mural. Now when he is in the presence of particularly intense emotions, Haldir can physically experience those emotions, thus overwhelming his natural senses and making him temporarily incapable of sensing normally. It varies given the individual and the sense chosen is at random, as one individual's anger can feel like being surrounded by fire on his skin, where another's sadness is that of a sobering song in his ears. While experiencing different emotions of the Reverie, Haldir is sent on a euphoric drive, finding himself in a sea of pleasure while basking in the emotion. His eyes will glow a faintly in a color that best fits the emotion he is experiencing respectively.



Journeyman
Mind's Eye: The next awakening in his magical mutations is that now a third eye appears on his forehead whenever he dives into the murals of others. This same eye appears on any obelisk he creates and on the forehead of whom ever he happens to be manipulating. At this level of expertise
