“Big Gus?” Vivian asked in amusement, his eyes raking over the large guard. “Big babysitter. You must be a mage then, given you’ve got someone ready to butcher you if you misbehave.” He relaxed a little as he shook Hakon’s hand, making sure to leave a considerable amount of slime on his palm.

He was pleasantly surprised that Hakon called him out on his lies, and laughed. “Expert then.” He snickered. “Good little mage sniffing dog then aren’t you?” It amused him that Hakon thought he wanted to ascend in the ranks at all. No. Killing other mages was the last thing he wanted. He would protect another mage sooner than he’d kill it, given all the savagery surrounding Malformists. Vivian moved to sit back on the bed with a squish, swathing himself again and dispelling the additional limbs. They either squirmed back into the mark, or melted in along his arms and dissolved into his skin.

“A wagon will do fine, just be kind to Bara. He can pull it. He’s the large flaxen mule in the stable. Scratch that animal and you’ll live to regret it…he and I have ways of knowing whether you’ve mistreated him.” Vivian warned.

He waited patiently for his two jailers to make their plans. There were ways to escape. He studied the disciplines of insects and worms, so his first move would be to make friends with the locals. Spiders, cockroaches, worms in the garden. Anything nastier if they had it. He would need to give birth safely, and these men didn’t seem to be the empathetic type that would be swayed by tears. That left deception. Second order of business would be making a cocoon that would feed the poor thing milk and keep it warm. Gods, it would be expensive to craft and he would have to rely on a very low knowledge of necromancy to pull it off…but it would let him keep his baby.

Vivian looked tiredly at the two. Why couldn’t they leave well enough alone?

Hakon didn't bother hiding his disgust at Vivian's powers. They were disgusting, and the other man seemed to delight in that, so it wasn't like he had the good grace to be ashamed.

He and Big Gus had a brief, hushed conversation before the guard went off to see about a wagon from the innkeeper or someone in the town. Hakon had zero doubt he'd be successful, even if it wasn't much more than a covered apple cart or similar. It would get the job done, and he'd be back home and out of this squallid room with this upsetting, repugnant rogue. One of the only bright spots, oddly enough, was how many threats were made against his person in return for the safety and wellbeing of Vivian's beast of burden.

"I can tell you care for your friend," Hakon said. "He'll be well-treated. The Guild has a nice stable for the animals, and a corral where you can ride him or lead him about, if you wish."

He didn't feel the need to say anything more. In the past, he would have tried to reassure Vivian that the Guild was a nice place, but years of experience with rogues had tuaght him that there was little point in this. They didn't believe him until they got there. Then, some liked it and stayed, others became iconoclasts and escaped. Some of those, he hunted down and killed, recaptured, or sundered. What happened to Vivian next was largely up to him -- his interactions with Hakon and the Guild at large were no different than a person interacting with the sun or the tides: a system beyond their ability to influence. Whether Vivian chose to ,ove with them in harmony, or face their wrath for disrupting the natural order was up to him.

When Big Gus returned and gave him the nod, Hakon nodded at Vivian in turn. "Alright, we're set up. Time to go. Gather any belongings you have in the room. You'll walk between me and Gus, board the transport, and stay there until we reach our destination. Understood?"
