Description:
The “halo-horned” headmistress of the courtesans of the Well of Fortune. She was the third eldest daughter of her parents, and grew with horns until curved and shaped into a halo as she matured into a woman with peach skin and black jewels for eyes. Her family was always on the road but mentioned “One day, you will desire to settle upon one starry sky, and when that time comes, you have our blessing.”
Every child took that saying to heart, and when the time came, one child would pursue the starry sky that called to them. Gelexia’s was not a starry sky, but a dancing troupe that their family often met and watched for years. When she turned 18, she asked the ringmaster to join and learn how to dance. The ringmaster was wary at first, but when she heard her parents speak of how she would see many starry skies through them, she tearfully accepted Gelexia into her troupe. For a medley for performers, she was a breath of fresh air. Though she struggled at first, Gelexia took to dancing like a horse learning to stand on its four legs. She danced with a colorful pair of blades gifted to her by the ringmaster, whom Gelexia said reminded her of the stars in the sky.
The troupe’s popularity was reaching heights that when they reached Daravin, they were approached by an Entente lady dressed in nothing but white. She was so entranced by Gelexia’s beauty that she requested for them to perform at a party for her, promising to pay them and house them during their stay. Her only request was that Gelexia would perform for her. The lady had hoped her performance would be good, but when Gelexia performed dances of her own while her troupe mates sang a lovely song about the starry night sky and flying high enough to see the stars on the final day, the crowd blew into rapturous applause at first sight. Even the lady was left in tears.
As the troupe was preparing for their departure, Gelexia was met with the lady in white. She attempted to get Gelexia to leave the troupe and stay in Daravin permanently. Initially, she politely declined. The lady then tried to lie and say that she paid the ringmaster for her, but Gelexia could tell it was a lie. She thanked her for the offer, but the Entente tried to bind her in chains when she tried to leave. But Gelexia was fast enough to chain her to a door, as she left. She told the ringmaster what happened and that they had to leave. The troupe escaped with all haste, but when the lady sent mages after them, Gelexia went another direction to get the mages’ attention, but she did not realize she was heading into the Badlands. The mages pursued her until she finally jumped into a ravine.
The mages gave up the pursuit, but as she limped through the ravine, she bumped into Lykos, who was watching Vassilios mess around with an ax and hit a bullseye. Lykos invited her in for a drink and to tell her how she ended up here. She regaled him with her story, and when she mentioned her dancing, Lykos requested a dance from her after she had recovered. It took three days, and she experienced the Well of Fortune. She asked to be a dancer for the Well of Fortune. Lykos mentioned that his dancers were also to be prostitutes and what that entailed. Lykos mentioned he understood if she was not keen on it, but Gelexia agreed without hesitation. Since then, Gelexia has been the headmistress for the prostitutes, and several clients of hers have mentioned dreaming of a starry sky after her services. She and Vassilios have gotten on well, but she often steals people that try to request him, taking victories and failures well in stride.
