Aether Network

Description
This concept utilizes the basic principles of negation. Anchors when created are given specific parameters which dictate what a shield can do. These parameters can be given in a number of ways, but for Reima her methods involve imagination and visualization in order to set these parameters. Anchors can be stand alone, or they can be linked to one another. 2 or more anchors linked together are coined an 'aether network'.

Concepts
  • Anchors can be linked together by weak aether threads
  • Anchors can be controlled through connected anchors, even if the mage is not physically in contact with that anchor
  • Parameters can be specific of vague, and the rune of negation fills in the gaps the best it can
  • The more specific the parameter the stronger the anchor. Too vague and the shield and anchor can more easily be overwhelmed and unravel
  • Shields can only do what they are programmed to do
  • The Anchors must have their parameters set before a shield can be activated. It is possible to Layer additional parameters later
  • Shields/wards are not permanent. While active they consume power from their anchors, eventually running out of magic and decaying
  • A negation mage can repair wards without understanding the parameters that went into making them. They simply add energy to the anchor and the repairs handle themselves. This may not hold true for larger, more complex wards
  • Shields can be activated and deactivated without having to remake the anchor. The anchor must be programmed with a parameter that allows this to occur
  • When two anchors are connected the parameters of one can be copied to the other, unfinished anchor
  • Anchors can exist in an unfinished state for a short time (to be confirmed). While in this unfinished state parameters of another anchor can be used as a template to complete the anchor
  • An Anchors parameters can be edited after the anchor is finished, however, any ward or barrier it projects must be deactivated to do so
  • Anchors can be sustained by the negation mage by actively feeding aether into them while active. The danger comes when an overwhelming power completely shatters a shield and the mage is unable to keep up the repairs. The shield and anchor will dissolve as a result.
  • Multiple anchors can go into creating one shield
  • Parameters can be divided between multiple anchors, increasing the flexibility and adaptability of the shields they create
  • Multiple Anchors can be manipulated from a central 'Gateway' anchor that is set for that purpose.
  • Anchors can be linked either with weak temporary connections, or stronger more permanent connections that will not break unless one or more anchors fail
