Characters involved: Andros Chrysostephanos, Dorothea Chrysostephanou [NPC controlled by Mimi], Fell Oxenfrey [NPC controlled by Mimi]

Setting: Teos

Plot Outline: Fell Oxenfrey escapes to Teos under an assumed name, pursued by Guild agents out to kill him for his crimes. Seeking a more remote exile, he flees to the island of Mikronisi. There he has an illicit relationship with Dorothea, beautiful daughter of Andros, leader of the Upper Village. The two marry and, when Fell is tracked down by the guild, Andros reluctantly protects him.

After many years and four children, Fell dies (or perhaps fakes his own death) under mysterious circumstances. This frees up Dorothea to move to Northradica with her son Ajax and her other children, following in Andros’ footsteps. Once in Radenor, Ajax takes part in an ongoing, separate plot.

Moderation: This plot will be moderated by Mimi. At the conclusion of this plot, Dorothea will become a Companion NPC, but may be written by Mimi for subsequent plot requests that will be submitted at a later date. Fell may or may not return for future plot requests (if indeed he is still alive at the end of this plot).

Community Benefit: This thread will be closed, as it sets up future plots for both the Chrysostephanos family and their associate, Hakon.

Effect on Atharen: N/A; None, none of these people are especially important.

Description: Fell was born into greatness. As the eldest son of a notable family in Northradica, he was destined to become the Lord of his estate unless something very unfortunate happened. He was a bright, sensitive child who had little interest in some of the more traditional pursuits expected of Lords. He enjoyed riding horses, dancing, and conversing with others, but showed next to no interest in or facility for the more martial aspects of life in Northradica: he despised hunting and he had multiple weapons teachers resign in frustration as he showed no facility with any weapon and little ability to improve.

It seemed that the bright star he was born under began to fade in his adolescence. His younger siblings, for he had multiple, all caught up to him in the aspects of estate management that he excelled at, and began to eclipse him in the ones he'd never been quite good at. In order to avoid any contentious arrangement about who would inherit the estate, his father approached him with a proposal: become a Guildmage of his own volition, and serve his country in a different way. Fell, not wanting to be the reason that any members of his family came to blows, agreed. He was delivered to the guild within the week, and initiated into Resonance for his first Mark of Control.

In some ways, Guild life was a great fit for Fell. He loved being surrounded by people who enjoyed research, reading, and study as much as he always had. He also found there was no shortage of fun to be had in the tower after hours, and the women of the tower appreciated a handsome former nobleman cooing at them and whispering sweet nothings to them, even if that's all they were. In other ways, though, it was a disaster. Fell had never had to cook his own food, clean his own room, or perform any sort of service for others, and he chafed at doing so as a Novus and then a Magus.

The Divide Fellow took a liking to him and convinced him to be initiated into it partially so that he could actually contribute something that was technically within the bounds of the Guild's rules: he'd always had a good aesthetic sense and was capable of producing decent sculptures for sale, as well as keeping others entertained with basically any instrument that he was allowed to play once he'd had an afternoon to get acquainted with it. As a Dividim, his sculptures counted as magical goods, which discharged his duty to his community and to the tower. This and the sizable donations his family sent to the tower helped to smooth over the fact that any chore assigned to Fell would simply not be done unless he felt like doing it.

The other issue with life in the tower proved far harder to solve, however. Fell had never had to contend with people restricting his movements before becoming a Guildmage, and he could not get used to it. The formerly pliant Lord become a bitter and rebellious mage who resented that his father had convinced him to lock himself away to avoid causing the family any strife. He arrived in his fifteenth year, and by his eighteenth, he could think of nothing else but escaping, an obsession that grew with each passing year.

In the end, it was his connections to the art world and his facility with Resonance that allowed him a chance at escape. His sculptures caught the attention of a small collection of Master Artists in Oxentide, who invited him to join them for suppers. These sojourns were allowed by his Warden under the pretext of establishing a stronger business relationship with people of means, and his guards quickly grew bored of attending the salons, preferring to drink in a separate room and let the artists drone on about brush strokes and forms. Fell found a sympathetic illustrator, and over the course of a few years, convinced her to help him get what he needed to escape: forged identity papers and passage to Teos aboard a trade ship.

It was his disdain for chores that actually led to the situation he found himself in. A non-mage serving girl in the tower who Fell had had a fling with was tidying his room for him -- an unasked for favor in the hopes that he would favor her with his presence once more -- when she discovered the identity papers. Knowing what they meant, she confronted him about them. Although not a hard man, he couldn't face up to the prospect of losing his connection to his fellow artists, being placed in confinement, being beaten, or worse. So he killed her and used Resonance to flee to Oxentide. He narrowly escaped being found by the Watch. By the time they figured out where he was, his ship had pushed off and was almost out of the harbor, and though the fume dragon was in the sky and almost pursued him, its rider made the decision not to pursue him and potentially endanger everyone on the ship.

And so, Magus Fell Oxenfrey became Sven Felman, a ceramicist bound for Teos. It was his fervent hope that no one would know or care what the mark on his neck meant once he got there.

Your tale holds some interest;
A man who suddenly vanishes, bearing a duality like no other;
To abandon one's face and to become another;
A father seeks only the best for their kin;
For the father's decisions will bear a loss or win;
For only you... can make a choice... to gather or wither;

For this, It is approved.
