Quick Facts
  • Name: Eiga {Shadowfang}
  • Height:
    - Males = 4'6''
    - Females = 4'
  • Length:
    - Males = 13 ft long (little less than 4m)
    - Females = 12 ft long
  • Weight:
    - Males = 450lbs
    - Females = 400lbs
  • Native to: Karnor
  • Locations: Astalar Mountains and Wild King's Forge

Appearance: Visually Eiga are recognizable by their deep purple scales, with piercing golden and crimson eyes that can send chills up your spine. They also sport two long horn like protrusions from the top of their heads, though females tend to have shorter ones.

This species of serpentine mammal has a well-defined muscle upon reaching adulthood, sporting powerful rear legs, and strong forearms. Like most of their serpentine brethren, they have the same elasticity in their jaws as most common snakes do.

Habitat:

Lifespan and Development: Eiga live long lives, the oldest known recorded at living 40 years before dying in battle.

Mating:

Diet:

Temperament: The behavior of the Eiga stems from three factors of their life and environmental conditioning. These three factors are "Family/Perception/Survival". Scholars have come to find these three core facets govern their day to day behavior and interactions with others.
  • - Familial Bonds:
  • - Discerning Nature:
  • - No Eiga Left Behind:
Abilities:
  • Natural Weaponry: They heavily rely on their blade-like claws and fangs in battle, which are sharp enough to leave grave and fatal wounds on hunters & prey.
  • Siesmic Sense: Using the pads on their feet, the Eiga is able to pick up even the slightest vibrations through physical contact with the ground, enabling them to perceive their surroundings as precisely as normal sight. Users are able to sense the structure and materials of solid substances, including the presence of caves.
  • Neurotoxin: The Eiga have a special blend of toxin that attacks the nervous system of the victim. This venom is paralytic and will cause the victim's motor skills to slow until they can no longer move. If bitten enough times a victim can subsequently suffocate from this, which they use to take down larger game.
Uses: It’s impossible to discuss this breed without leaning on words like “elusive,” “deadly,” "agile,” and “cunning.” And yet, the Eiga snakes are quite strong and will meet a perceived threat with surprising force and speed. The broad hood and expressive blood-red eyes project a noble, shrewd expression. However, this breed of the quadrupedal snake was naturally conditioned to be a predator and hunter. Intelligent and reserved, the Eiga originated from northern, colder regions of Karnor and is rumored to be one of the most ancient breeds of snake in Ransera. There are ancient cave drawings in the Astralar Mountains that prove that the snake’s ancestors have been around for at least 100 years.

The Eiga's original purpose was to guard and protect and is still exceptionally a natural protection against any intruders in Karnor. The breed is impressive in size and is described as an observant but vicious guardian. When domesticated along with its shrewd expression, the snake also makes a great companion to those it feels loyal to. This breed has a moderate energy level and it is important to provide efficient mental and physical stimulation to allow for the personality of this snake to shine through.

Black Road Bunny-Goat

Fast Facts:
Height: 2’ 5” at the shoulder as average, 1’ 7” as the smallest, females being larger than males
Weight: 40 to 70lbs
Length: 4’ to 4’ 5” from tail tip to snout
Diet: Lichens, scrubby grass, can be seen licking red iron rocks, and have an insatiable sweet spot for traveler’s food.
Rarity: Uncommon
Tier: Tier 3. Low danger; they are a prey animal, but watch out for the horns!

Appearance and Biology:
Looking to be a cross between a rabbit and goat the Black Road Bunny-Goat is quite the chimera. They generally stand about 2 feet tall at the shoulder with the females being slightly bigger than the males, their weight being around 40-70 lbs pounds. They are round and squat individuals. Other than the size there is very little difference between the female and male goats. Their fur is soft like rabbits fur and slate grey with some white on the underbelly, they have black eyes and black spotted markings on their face. Their ears are large and long with great hearing. And finally their double horns have a bend and curve to them, some of the bends being more prominent than the others. As for the tail, it is short and stumpy. It is said that their cry is that of a laughing goat, some find the noise eerie.

Garnering their name as bunny-goats they have strong back legs that they are able to kick themselves to great heights with. Similar to their native, though elusive, neighbor, the Santikhiri, their horns are their source of greatest power. Due to licking red iron stones their horns take on a quality of the iron allowing them to heat up the horns using an organ at the base of the horns which is coursing with electricity. This organ produces low levels of an electric pulse, which then heats the horns. As prey animals these beasts are eaten by any manner of predator or man in the Astralar Mountains.

Called a few lowly names by the locals such as “the black road brand”, “the black road welt”, “gorer’s burn”, the ability of burning horns is quite the nuisance to travelers. The Black Road Goat’s are able to heat their horns before ramming someone or something. This is easily seen as they glow red like a piece of heated iron before being slammed into their target. The damage done by this is more nominal than a mortal wound and those finding themselves a target of the bunny-goat’s mischief will have at worst a burn but usually just a hot blister where the horns came in contact with flesh. If they were to hit, say, a wooden wagon there would be no fire-- only a scorch mark.

Habitat:
Uncommon in the Astralar Mountains as well as uncommonly seen around the Black Road.

Temperament:

These goats have quite the reputation among travelers going through the Astralar Mountain range, particularly among those who take the Black Road. Known well for being hostile and curious it can be hard to avoid these creatures when they have their eyes set on you. They are uncommonly seen from a distance but should you do something to garner their attention they would love nothing more than to come and headbutt you with their burning horns. With their unfriendly and independent disposition taming them is unlikely.

Another notable reaction these creatures have to travelers is the love of cooked food. There are some tales told along the Black Road of the bunny-goats ransacking a sleeping camp for leftover scraps or even outright mobbing a party who is cooking. While these are uncommon occurrences the tales are a favorite among the travelers as a warning and a good laugh.

The last thing that is important to be said about these creatures is the fact that where there is one, there are many. Usually if you see them they will be in groups of three or four, though the herds are rather large.

Life Cycle:
Reaching sexual maturity after two years they will sometimes stay with the herd for a year afterwards before moving on. They breed only once a year producing two kids. They usually live up to 13 years. Herds can be found to have up to 18 individuals, though usually about half of them would be kids or adolescent sire due to their reproduction. Oftentimes adolescents will break off from the herd when reaching maturity and find their own way until joining or forming another herd. They are matriarchal in hierarchy.

Uses:
That being said their meat is rich like that of rabbits and well sought after as a regional delicacy. With soft fur hardy to the elements their pelts are also valuable! The horns lose their luster when cut and are essentially the same as any other goat’s horn without the red stones to supply them with their iron.
