The woman whose chest was struck seems to be slowing down and struggling to breathe; there must be something wrong with her lungs– either they were compressed by the collapsed ribs or punctured by the fragments of bone. Her suddenly waning speed catches a dancer behind her off guard. He crashed into her with a rather grotesque series of cracking and snapping sounds from both parties. It would have been enough to make a person nauseous if they weren't used to hearing such things. The entire area of her shoulder into which the other party had run into appears to have been destroyed. Her arm looks like the shoulder was unsocketed, the clavicle is likely broken and so is the shoulder blade itself. Blood can be seen soaking through the fine fabric of her clothing as she haphazardly tries to continue along with her movements. The woman who struck her suffers from similar injuries to the shoulder though she lacks the additional struggle of a destroyed ribcage. As more moments pass, the second to fall is the woman with the broken ribs– it appears that she can barely draw breath at this point. When she hit the floor, more bones broke and spiked through her flesh leaving a body coated and slick with blood among the lavish adornments she wore. In truth, the Ferrier found sights like this rather beautiful.
Two down, four to go. This group was somewhat lucky in how few leg injuries had occurred thus far. It was fairly normal for some of the larger men to step too hard and snap something. For Degare, the most satisfying sound was the snap of a brittle femur. He couldn’t explain exactly why this is but it was so loud compared to other bones and rang through the acoustics of the room in a way that he found utterly delicious. In many ways, it went as far as to turn him on. Unfortunately, not every performance did this happen due to the erratic nature inherent to the puppets’ movements.
The Ferrier leaned over the railing with a sort of hunched over, lazy posture and a stupid grin on his face beneath the shadow of his hood. He really did take far too much pleasure in watching people dance themselves to death in this horrible, haphazard way. It was also rather satisfying to him that this entire practice was something he’d come up with on his own and that others of the Entente went out of their way to both attend and even to fund. If nothing else, it fluffed his ego up quite a bit.
The twirling figures took little care to dance around the two collapsed bodies. The shattered bones of the one woman’s shoulder and the man’s shattered arm caused their steps to be off balance, swinging with the weight of their broken parts. The other two still standing pristine were both men, one much larger and more fit than the other. Of them, the one with less apparent strength appeared to be slower in his movements; it would look like he was growing tired physically, although there was no chance he’d stop moving until exhaustion forced him to collapse. Such was the fate of those afflicted with Degare’s Minstrel mutation– one would happily ignore one’s limitations until the reaper finally came to claim them.
The bigger of the two uninjured men was unwieldy with his movements and not the most graceful of creatures. Tall for a human and muscular, he didn’t seem so close to tiring. In an event that could almost be described as merciful for the smaller man suffering from the broken arm, the two collided. The sounds of their bones shattering and crunching under the force of their impact was truly sickening. The bones cracked and crumbled within, tearing flesh and causing immense internal bleeding for both figures. In reference to the smaller of the two, he near to immediately hit the floor. He fell into a pile of limbs and meat, twisted in ways most unnatural from the way the pieces of him had broken.
The larger of the two wasn’t able to keep going, either– his hips were broken to a degree that could no longer hold up his weight. When he met with the hard, polished stone of the floor, his skull shattered. The sharp fragments of bone ripped through the skin of his scalp and spilled brain matter and blood all over the floor. His fall was loud. For when such a heavy man hits the ground with sufficient force, his weakened skeleton was unable to weather the impact. The sounds of bones breaking, flesh ripping and visceral cries as he and the others fell apart wove along with the music playing in a cacophony of noise that both of the observing Sil’Norai had become rather fond of.
Four down, two to go. With the amount of bodies on the floor and the amount of blood seeping out of them, the space the remaining two had was marred with a labyrinth of obstacles. Marble tiles slick with blood, it would be difficult not to trip while at the same time avoiding the crumpled heaps of flesh. The girl with the broken shoulder did not fare well under these circumstances and as such, she did not last much longer after the larger man broke. The second her shoe met with a puddle of blood, she slid across the floor in a way most comical– provided one has the taste to find such things funny. The bend of her leg and the force of the movement caused the connective tissue in her knee to tear as the bones slipped and fragmented along with her. At the end of her slide, she hit the floor with the bones of her legs breaking in multiple locations, some of which tore through flesh and spilled her blood all over the floor as well. When her upper body hit the floor, her hips, ribs, and shoulders all also broke with rather similar displays of gore. The sound was music to the Ferrier's pointed ears.
The final man to stay up was the most tired of the group; apparently, he was the least physically fit with breathing becoming ragged and heaved as he struggled to keep going. With five of six having hit the floor, his room to move was very limited if he wanted to avoid the after effects of their falls. However, due to the tethers and perhaps an altered mindset from to how tired he was, he appeared to not really care– sliding on the blood as the woman before him did. Finally, he couldn’t keep himself upright anymore and hit the floor while the sickening crack of bones reverberated throughout the main hall of the estate, flowing alongside the beautiful notes of the orchestra.
With all six performers spent and either dead or bleeding on the floor, the elven Veir watching from above snapped all of his tethers out of the air at once and disappeared into the shadows of the balcony, his Valran fading away alongside him. The two of them made their way down from their perch and into the main hall itself. With languid steps and long strides, the Ferrier wove through the crowd of eager onlookers and made his way to stand beside the other Valran that were still keeping the crowd at bay from the bodies.
When the two elves arrived, it appeared that most of the dancers were dead. Sometimes, a few would cling to life after a show for just a little bit, injuries being severe but not exactly fatal. That would be why Degare had made his way down; he wanted to check to see if there were any survivors. Only one of them still drew breath, the other five were out. The last to fall, the smallest man lay on the ground with blood still bubbling from quivering lips and eyes wide in shock now that he no longer possessed the comfort of the Mentalist’s tethers.
Moving with a rather slow pace, the elven Veir steps over the viscera and through the puddles of blood to kneel at the dying man’s side. Eyes of red amber glint with pleasure at the sight of the gore, his lips twisted into a sadistic grin as he watched life slowly drain from the eyes of the man below him. When all movement ceased, he rose. Directing his gaze to the Valran before him, he mouths the words: “All fallen.”
