Continued from Chameleon I…

It had been an eventful gathering, the Entente had shared their secrets, played their games and tried their best to gain power. Gossip was the reason why they would attend formal gatherings. However, one had a different purpose. The well perfumed male, now standing amongst the balcony as if he was the king of the place; he had been invited into Aulen’s home after the party. The dangerous allure was the reason why he had invited Salen; the most fatal reason possible for an Entente. Perhaps the most fatal decision he would make in the future as his cognition was clouded with the side-effects of alcohol.

A deadly choice for the man who was unknowingly tempted by a fiend of the night. A fiend of passion, lust and false ecstasy, a male who could bring forth any desire that lingered in the back of their mind. Any desire at all. Desire was a weapon to these creatures, it allowed them to manipulate the minds of other folk.

Aulen’s judgement had been so severely impaired, which made him a prime target for the Corvo; since he had been heavily drinking, there were influences in his mind that could ensure him to reveal information. As it once was told, drunk people were often truthful about their feelings and emotions. Salen however wasn't phased by the effects, just the craving for addiction, whether it was drugs or alcohol; he did not discriminate. He didn’t have to deal with the vices of addictions, since he was highly cognizant and well aware whilst under the influence of highly addictive substances. It appeared to improve Salen’s focus upon the task, although he still had to act. Giving up a secret gift he had wasn’t an option for the Brotherhood’s secrecy as he heard Aulen outside the room.

He opened the door slightly to eavesdrop on the conversation outside as it appeared Aulen was angry; the bitterness and venom was projected on his voice as he appeared to be in trouble.

“What am I supposed to do, Garcia knows about everything. If she finds out more, she's gonna crucify me on top of Carine's churches! The Mithra are gonna purge me if I don't do something about it.”

“I don’t know, she has a habit of slipping up y’know”

“Well, tell me… Do you have anything else I can use against her; she’s got more on me than anything. Time is running out! They are coming for me, if I don’t have the money I’m screwed!”

He watched from the small crack in the door as he looked at the other man outside. Aulen appeared to be worried, as he growled at his servants, like they were nothing but animals. However, living in a meritocratic society encouraged animalistic behavior; a behavior that defined natural selection over the hierarchy of Daravin . To fulfill his contract. The other man appeared to have been a subject to him. A bodyguard perhaps? It was a common thing after all, especially in circles where Valran were present. He took in the sights once more as he watched the way he treated his servant, throwing his weight about and smashing that silver platter in the air, like a child having a tantrum. The fact is adulthood was essentially a kindergarten in itself; Entente never truly grew up, they constantly played games. After all, games were fun. It was the psychological development that often led most parties with a vile thrill, so vile that even other patrons of the game would fear losing.

Salen’s disapproval was apparent, he watched with narrowed eyes. His fists clenched into a fist with the way the servant was treated. It was like she was nothing but disposable. Daravin’s meritocratic views made society that way as the Nightcrawler reflected on what he once was and what he is now. A wolf in sheep's clothing, like the rest of them. However, Salen had other prey in mind. He watched the tantrum unfold out in front of him as he wondered how emotionally driven he was. A psychoanalytic step for achieving victory was getting to know what makes people tick.

“Gah, blast this! Clean this up and bring me some more wine…”

“Yes, master…” The downtrodden slave said, shaking in fear as she was forced to clean up an entirety of spilt wine. The sight sickened him, left him with burning anger inside. He saw Aulen was heading towards the door as he backed away quickly and moved to the sofa. He sat down with his legs crossed as he smirked.

“I heard some commotion out there, I’m assuming everything’s alright?”

“Yes… Well… Not quite, I've been having some trouble lately but that doesn't matter, I shouldn't bother you too much about that. It's not like you'd want business troubling you every day.”

“Hmm…” He purred out.

Clearly it was a facade, he knew too well how to pull one, only he didn't seem convinced he was ok. He was panicking. Salen knew why. It was the reason why he was here in the first place, to put an end to his current contract and to get paid. It was a simple job, yet emotions weren’t simple. The hardest part was getting someone to open up, especially a man of his stature. A Veir, crumbling down to his knees because his wife had found out about his illegal activities. All Salen needed was proof.

The eye contact he made; the eyes hungry for something as he seemed laid back amongst the sofa as he watched him pour two glasses of wine. He smirked knowing he was already intoxicated. They never seemed to learn, rather burrow their problems in alcohol, drugs and other substances. It was the fact that mankind and other races appeared to have a certain vice to burrow their emotions away. To give into the actions of self control. It was exactly what Brazim would’ve wanted from the world, for the world to give up and lose self control, to lose their humility, to endorse in the pleasures of the deadly sins.

His eyes were watchful of Aulen as he sat down, his emotions were high from the argument outside. Though, there was something that may calm the man down, a sense of comfort. He moved his hand amongst the other man’s cheek and caressed it softly, watching him smile. He blinked twice as he took the wine he had poured from the table and sat sideways on the sofa.

“Perhaps someone was looking for someone to relieve some stress, tonight…”

“That might be aware, I was looking for some company, you seemed rather… Inviting…” He paused.

Inviting was an understatement, hence the scent of the natural scent of his skin that leaked amounts of fragrance in the air, as well as that odd dangerous scent in the air. The smell of leather. Aulen smirked as he moved closer to the other man, before Salen pushed him away “Nah ah ah… I never said you can come close.” He smirked as he swiveled his glass before finishing it down in one gulp before placing it back on the table. His eyes were always on Aulen the whole time as he demanded something from him, he knew what the male desired. However, he wasn’t going to make it easy for the man. Salen was the puppeteer in this, he was assertive in his nature as he quickly moved behind the man and sank his jaw into his neck.

“If you’re in my presence, I make the rules… Got it?”

Aulen was confused for a moment as he grinned with excitement; he seemed to willingly agree to the terms Salen had made. An unwise move indeed. His hands moved along the man’s shoulders as he began to softly massage amongst the other man’s shoulders. His hands moved in circular motions as Aulen appeared to be relaxing. However, as much as this was an inviting experience for Aulen. Salen watched with contempt. He had a hidden desire, a hidden desire to kill the man for his crimes. As much as Salen wanted to, he held his nerve in a hint of passive-aggression.

“How does that feel?” He asked breathily.

“I feel better… Shall we head to the bedroom?”

“Patience is a virtue… Good things come to those who wait…”

Salen made sure he spoke in riddles, after all he wasn’t the type for giving up anything that easily. He always liked his psychological games; he liked it when he saw what made people tick. It was imperative to his work, for if one was easily taken, it could not bring him good fortune and gold. It was also imperative that he remained the dominant source of reciprocation; it was his world after all.

“Follow me…” He said as he moved away towards the master bedroom of the house as he smirked with every hint of lust. Salen wanted the man to open up more, the only way he was going to do that if he made him even more comfortable. As much as he hated it, he had to fulfill his own desires. The desire to end the man, yet it was difficult. He couldn't end him without the evidence, so the best way was to make him open up to him and play along.

Whatever the outcome, Salen would always get what he wanted.

The games have begun.
