The hour was late in Outer Nivenhain. Most shops were closing down for the day, and the baker's ovens had long since extinguished. The streets had gone quiet earlier than they normally did, as a dark overcast had accumulated in the searing sky, and the Rien people returned to their warm homes for shelter in place of gossiping in the marketplace. it looked like it might rain, after all. And who wanted to be caught in Nivenhain's rain at dusk?
A Kathar lurked the darkened streets beneath the threat of rain. he dressed in heavy, expensive-looking armor, and carried a sword upon his back that didn't fit the theme of his gear even remotely. The large, jagged blade rested between two wings of a charcoal plume, betraying his Avialae nature. He could pass for the role he was trying to fulfill, but a trained eye would see through him, for sure.
A low, distant rumble quaked somewhere in the sky while the Kathar inspected a frayed note in his hand, then looked about the streets through the visor of his helm as he searched for the landmarks he was indicated. A bow of his head assured that he was on the right path. While he walked, curious eyes examined the architecture of the homes there. They weren't as big as the more luxurious homes in Outer Nivenhain, and a lot of them were quite spread out.
In a way, it reminded him of the Lower district, just a little more kempt. That was something the faux knight could relate to, especially recently.
Before long, the kathar found his mark. A small stone home, disconnected from the others with plenty of distance to leave the doctor to his isolated medical studies... And practices. It was no secret that the human preferred to get his hands dirty himself, and whispers spoke that it was unwise to cross him. Nonetheless, a life was at stake. They were running out of options, and Mr. Cyrus Faust was one of their last options.
With a deep breath, the kathar removed his helm, then brushed through his short dark hair with his gauntlet-wrapped fingers. He was tan of complexion, tall with piercing dark eyes and soft, almost pensive frown to frame his features. As far as his maturity went, he appeared to be in his mid-thirties comparative to a human. Of course, he was much older, but Avialae lived longer.
Carefully, the giant lifted his gauntlet-wrapped arm, paused, and carefully cleared his throat before he rapped his knuckles against the door. Should the house owner answer, they would be greeted with the visage of the tall, armored Avialae.
"Good evening," spoke the giant with an accent most refined. "I am Knight-Argent Valris. Might I speak with a Mr. Cyrus Faust?" He asked with a humble bow of his head.

☠ The air within my home was abuzz with many different spells and aromas. I was rather glad as my homes out of the way and I didn't have any immediate neighbors that would hear the noises coming from my home. More importantly, it helped that no one was close enough to hear the screams that come from here sometimes, though I don't think they would pay them any mind anyway. I was a doctor after all, and some procedures were not the easiest to endure.

Amputations were a process in and of themselves, and it was never a clean or peaceful thing to perform or enure. It was times like this I was glad my facade was that of a physician, as it gave me some leeway, but not by much, just enough to get by. Tonight would be no different, just another procedure but of a more interrogative kind. I had the honor of interrogating my first torture subject this evening.

The poor sap had stolen some supplies from one of my providers, looting key ingredients for some medicine I have been working on for a while now. To say I was upset about the incident would be an understatement. My supplier offered to gather them up once again at no charge, but I insisted instead he find the culprit and bring them to me.

Not entirely sure what was happening the young man that stole my ingredients sat bound to one of the chairs in my bedroom and watched as I moved about, pouring over torturing notes and the likes that I had gathered over the years. What drew the young man's attention, however, was the calm look on my face.

So many questions began to flood the young man's mind I'm sure. Who was I, why have I detained him, what could he have possibly done to end up in my clutches? Fear however held his tongue hostage just as I was holding him hostage. Turning after setting up my torturing station, I looked him over.

He was young, maybe 18, scraggly little Siltori shit, but the puppy eyes he was displaying to me would not save him in the least bit. He stole from my supplier, which by association meant he stole from me, and that was something I could not, would not tolerate such an affront to me. Kneeling in from of him I took hold of his face in my hands.

So many questions as to why he did it were buzzing around in my mind, but my focus went to wanting to begin the practice of my torturing skills. "I'm going to be rather frank with you, if you don't spill your guts, I will spill them for you." I encouraged caressing the filthy and scared face of the captive. My eyes poured over the fear and helplessness of my victim, soaking it all in with a delighted smirk.

Tilting my head to the side I held the Siltori's face with both hands, making his eyes lock onto on my all-encompassing gaze. Is holding your tongue truly worth it? What reason do you have that's worth this misery? It's pointless to keep your mouth shut, so why don't you share with me, if you do I'll tell you something no one knows, that could actually ruin my reputation as a doctor."

The boy spat at me, cursing me and my ancestors in Silvain, not knowing that understood every word he said. He really had no secrets in my presence, which made me laugh a bit. The man was willing to throw his life away for some measly medical reagents he wouldn't even get that much for anyway.

Releasing the captive's face from my grasp, I went and grabbed a bottle, one that held a clear pink liquid in it. Walking over to the little bastard I forced it down his throat. "Its an antiseptic, will help fight off infection and keep you from passing out." I said moving over to the shelves, hidden by the darkness of the dimly lit room so that the one unfortunate enough to be sitting in that chair couldn't ascertain what horror was coming next. After gathering what I needed I returned and sat in front of the young man.

I was fascinated by him if was being honest, his resilience, his stubbornness, and most of all, the fact this one could break at any moment. Though my fun and inquiry would have to wait, as a knock came at the door. Gripping him by his head of hair I made sure our eyes were locked on one another.

"If you make so much as a sound I can assure you the horror and pain I will unleash on you will make you beg and grovel for death." I reinforced, gagging him with a cloth and tying it behind his head so he couldn't spit it out. Moving to my nightstand, I took Vaccine from the draw, checking to make sure its singular bullet was still loaded, a poison dragonshard bullet.

"Coming!" I called back to the knock, taking a deep breath before opening it. I heard the voice introduce itself. I couldn't believe my fucking luck, an Argent-Knight at my front door at a time like this, that is if was really a knight. For all I knew it could be that brats friend or someone he knows come to rescue him. Trying not to panic I opened the door, the barrel of my gun pointing at where one's heart would be.

To my surprise, the knight was tall....really tall in fact. He dwarfed me by a whole foot if my observation of him was accurate. "Please forgive me, sir knight, can't be all to careful these days especially being so out of the way. I am Cyrus Faust, to what brings a knight to my home this evening?" I was hoping it was something quick and easy so I could send him on his merry way and get back to my test subject upstairs. ☠

Aside from a widening of his eyes, the knight didn't react much to the greeting of a gun aimed at his stomach. Nonetheless, he introduced himself and bowed his head, and the human apologized. "No harm, no foul," was all he said on the matter, then lifted his head with a polite smile.
"I should make it known that I'm not currently working despite appearances," warned the argent as he motioned to his armor. "No, I'm visiting for a personal matter that requires immediate attention, off the record. I understand that it's late, but without your aid, I fear that someone dear to me will pass." That much was the truth, and it reflected in the Argent's tone. The atmosphere that surrounded him and his persistent downward gaze was dour.
"I can pay you handsomely for the service," he added with a turn of his metal-wrapped palm. "Even more so, considering the short notice, and the discretion, too. All I need is an evaluation of their most threatening injuries right now, as well as treatment to stabilize them should you think yourself capable." The more the argent spoke, the more his desperation became evident. He'd already turned to negotiating in the human's favor without hearing his answer, and he scarcely gave pause to allow Cyrus to speak. Situations like these were not his strong suit.
"Honestly, it's the lungs that worry me most. If you could just check those and ensure that he doesn't worsen, I will give you your pay and schedule an appointment to see the rest of his injuries treated," continued the Avialae. At this point, it was clear that the Knight had picked up on Cyrus's hesitation, his desire to break away from the interaction as soon as possible. Valris knew not why, but he did know that he had to somehow convince the human to leave the comfort of his home at that hour. And to do that, he tried to make the whole situation seem as convenient as possible.
Finally, he paused. Only a moment or two later did he blurt another string of hopeful words. "I am begging you, Mr. Faust. Should you accept, I will not forget your kindness."
Another roar of thunder rumbled in the sky above them; a herald to an approaching storm. All the while, the Avialae's dark gaze rested on Cyrus's eyes.

"There's no need to beg sir knight if your friend is in trouble, then I'll gladly lend you my aid for sure." I assured, but more importantly, I just wanted him to leave, but as a physician, I was obligated to help someone in need. The knight was obviously worried, I could clearly hear it as he spoke. It made me think just how bad of a condition this friend of his was in.

Before I could help however I had one thing to take care of. It seemed I wouldn't be practicing on the young Siltori. Heading upstairs I entered my bedroom, grabbing Mortem Scalpel off the wall, and without a second thought, drove the sickle blade into the left temple of the male.

His body limped over in the chair he was tied too, and I simply cleaned the blade with his shirt, then when to get dressed. I would simply clean the mess after this was all over, and it would be quite sometime before the body would even begin to decompose so I had more than enough time to do this and return to dispose of the thief. Once dressed, I grabbed my surgeon's kit, tucking Mortem Scalpel on my waist, and met the Knight at the door.

"Shall we be on our way then." I encouraged, locking the door behind myself. "Care to tell me how your friend landed in this situation on the way there sir knight?" I asked, ushering away from my home and back out onto the streets, hearing the sounds of a storm coming.

It never dawned on me why this knight came to me of all people, as I was just a simple doctor, a minor physician within the city. Though I figured if the pay was as good as he said it would be, did I really care how they found me?. ☠

The good doctor accepted, and Asmodei sighed a breath of relief. It might have been near comical to see one so large wracked with anxiety over such matters, but the Avialae had decided it best to be forthright. Evidently, he was correct.
"I'm in your debt, Mr. Faust. I'll await your return here while you gather your things," spoke the giant simply as he moved to stand to the side. The air bent around his form as he moved, just due to the surface area of the man.
True to his word, he waited where Cyrus had left him. As the shorter male stepped from his house, Valris bowed his head in greeting. "We shall. If we're lucky, we might miss the rain!" Declared the argent with enthusiasm, and then they were off. Strangely, the Avialae didnt walk toward the higher societies of Nivenhain. Instead, he took the road that led to the lower district.
"His injuries are severe; we didn't want to move him too far," explained the Avialae, as though he'd read Cyrus's mind. When the question of the patient's circumstances arose, Valris drew a deep breath through his nose. How honest should he be?
Another thrum of thunder bellowed from the sky, accompanied by a flash of light. Light rain began to fall as the storm drew closer.
"He was attacked," explained the Argent. "Me and my wife found the boy beneath the blades of three hollows. We dispatched them, but it's been three days and he's not awoken." He'd not yet said too much, so the argent continued. "We don't know why he was attacked, or who sent the hollows, but we're investigating the matter. This is why it's imperative that this remains confidential; whoever tried to kill him must not learn of his location." Had he said too much? Probably.
"I really do appreciate your aid in this matter, Mr. Faust. My wife and I have worried ourselves sick," spoke the Avialae with a look over his shoulder. Then, as they entered Lower Nivenhain, the winged man adorned his helm, and stood a little taller. "Stay close to me," he warned with a metallic echo.

The path they took through the district was lined with tall stone homes with broken glass windows, wooden boards and bars to frame all points of entry. Some houses were completely abandoned, and had been long enough for the wild weeds of the city to reclaim them. The amount of habitable homes grew thinner as they approached their mark through the dusk-veiled streets.
Finally, a tall, broad building of stone brick revealed itself; an old warehouse of sorts pressed up against one of the city's outer walls.Valris made a b-line for the structure, and looked over his shoulder periodically to ensure that the human followed. When at last he arrived at the tall sliding barn door, Valris nodded to the human and removed his helm. "I understand this is suspicious, and you're brave to have come all the way out here, but you're in good company. The boy is in here," motioned Valris with a metal-wrapped hand.
The rain had begun to pick up and collided in audible pings with his helm and breastplate while they stood on the outside of the refuge. If Cyrus did not enter the building first, then Valris would. The large door creaked and groaned as the Avialae willed it to move.
Inside was a vast, empty room with a plethora of debris scattered about the place. Broken planks, piles of dirt and dust, rubble from an area of the collapsed roofing. The atmosphere was cool, but not overly so. A constant drumming rolled on above their heads as the rain rapped on the corrugated metal roofing, and an audible, constant drip echoed from somewhere deeper inside. The squeaking and chattering of rats could be heard in addition to the ambience of the rain fall. As far as scents went, rust, mold and a hint of rat dropping graced their noses.
The only source of light in the vast, empty room was a burning steel barrel, which sat beside some sort of boarded bed frame. Laid out on that was some sort of creature with scales in place of skin, a long, slashed face and claws on every digit. Bone fragments jutted visibly from the creature's misshapen arm, even from where they stood. Beside the creature sat a pale elf of dark hair and dark, exquisite clothing.

☠ I couldnt really say whether or not I bought the explanation of the patient's condition, but seeing as I was not part of it I couldnt really if it was a lie or not. Either way I eager to aid this young man the best I could. Despite my off-time hobbies, I was a physician after all. I would be ashamed if I didnt not put the patient's own well being over my own curiosities.

As we walked the night continued to thank me for my help, which made me feel that the connection between the two was strong, strong enough to make them seek outside help. I was suspecting he knew the patient far more intimately than he led on, but I wouldn't press him about it, simply following his lead to wherever they were hiding him.

It did make me wonder though. Just how special was this man to make an Argent Knight hide him from the law, guilty or otherwise? it intrigued me, but I knew better than to poke my nose where it didn't belong of course. When he suggested that I stick close to him out of concern for my safety, it made me chuckle, placing my hand on the hilt of Mortem Scalpel.

It wasn't as if I couldn't protect myself, but his presence was a natural deterrent, so I allowed him to "protect" me as we made our way through lower Nivenhain. It was too long that we reached the destination, and hearing his words only made me wave them off. If he only knew how dangerous I could be as well.

"I'm a doctor, so the patient's need come before my own safety." I explained, moving to where the body was, another figure sitting next to it. I ran my hand along my scalp as I wasn't expecting a Rathari, let alone a Beasalt one at that. That wouldn't stop me, but it was a little frustrating not having all the details of his condition.

Immediately I went to work, checking his pulse, seeing just was I was dealing with. His breathing was shallow, but he was at least breathing, if anything he was burning up. Infection maybe, but it was too early to tell.

Placing my ear to his chest I wanted to hear his lung, as well as his heartbeat. Everything seemed fine, his heartbeat was stable and his lungs didn't give me any indication that they had fluid in them, so the only thing that concerned me was this fever. Looking to his arm however, I could see my worries were sound.

The discoloration of the limb and the area around where his bones were jutting out let me know they didn't clean it properly. Reaching into my kit I pulled out some gauss, something to act as sanitation for the wound, and a surgeons saw. "He is fine for now, but he does have a fever and I fear an infection is a reason for it. This arm has to go." I told them, rolling up my sleeves and washing my hands with some of the sanitizer. ☠

The most obvious of the llizard's wounds weren't entirely clear until the good doctor closed the distance. The dark-haired siltori woman that sat beside the wounded Rathari looked to Cyrus as he approached, and offered a gentle smile with a gleam in her red eyes. Her gaze turned to Asmodei as he pulled the heavy door shut.
Both the avialae and the siltori met each other's gazes as Cyrus began to inspect the wounds, and they exchanged thoughts with their expressions alone. Valris appeared impressed, while the unnamed Siltori, unsure.
The Rathari's wounds were extensive, to say the least. The lower half of the arm was bent out of shape, swollen, and darkened in the patches where the broken pieces of his bones jutted from his scales, and there were two other injuries that might have caught Cyrus' attention.
Across the left side of the lizard's head was a deep, broad cut that ran along his slashed eye, and to the tip of his nose. The wound appeared fresh, strangely, as fit had only been widened with deliberate cuts; the work of another practitioner.
His left shoulder was wrapped with bandages, and rags stuck out from beneath the bindings, darkened with blood. There was an entrance wound on the front, and exit wound around the other side at a slightly higher angle. He'd been hit in the head with a sword and also run through, it appeared. He would need stitches to close the wound after it was properly cleaned to prevent further infection, but such a thing would leave him disfigured with the tight pull on his scales.
More signs of the work of past practitioners revealed themselves on the lizard's chest, which was wrapped with bandages. A distinct red line ran in a pattern where his scales would have been opened by someone of professional lessons; he had been operated on prior to Cyrus' arrival. Even so, the impalement looked to be well-tended.
"You're very focused," spoke the siltori after Cyrus declared his intent for the arm. "We have asked others to tend to his wounds, as you can likely tell; we were aware of the grievousness of the arm injury. Is there any way you can save it?" She didn't anticipate an answer she liked, as others had possessed the skill to save some semblance of a limb, but not one that would function properly or even appear normal, even with months upon months of surgery. "I would like the choice to be his when he wakes. But, if you must amputate it now, I trust your judgment."
With her piece said, the Avialae closed the gap, and brought a hand to rest o the Siltori's shoulder. "The slash on his head keeps festering, too," it probably didn't help that he was kept in a rat-infested abandoned building. "Are his lungs okay? Another said that one of them collapsed; punctured by his ribs."

☠ Now that I was looking at him, it seemed that the knight didn't tell me that there were other wounds on the rathari other than his concern for the lungs. Letting out a sigh, I took out a scalpel, and cut the bandages on his shoulder off. Those would need to be redressed after I cleaned the wound. It appeared to be a clean run-through, which made me think the poor kid didn't deserve this kind of violence, no matter what he had done.

Quickly I dosed a rag in the kit with some sanitizer and began to clean his shoulder wound, noticing the one on his face had the early signs of an infection, which didn't help given where they had been hiding this man. "To think they would hide you in such a place as this, it's no wonder you have infections in your wounds." I whispered in the tongue of the silver elves, inspecting my own work before discarding that rag and repeating the process on another one, this time focusing on the face wound.

Making sure both wounds were properly cleaned was paramount if he was going to recover in good health, but that would be hard in this place. Either way, I did what I could for the lad, cleaning and redressing his bandages. It was the least I could do for him to help ease his suffering and hopefully improve his chances of recovery.

What was giving me some issues however was the arm. That would either need to be amputated, or repaired, and sadly I didn't believe I could fix his arm with basic knowledge of anatomy, let alone human anatomy. Though it became clear the more I poured over his body and examined him, that someone before me had seen him, or at least done some minor surgery on the scaled lad.

It was clean enough for me to assume someone of professional status had worked on him, which made me question why I was chosen to look at him. It didnt make sense why I was even here, especially if someone of better skill had been looking over him. I really was not liking this whole situation as a whole, but my duty as a physician outweighed my need to get as far away from here as possible.

But even if I did want to leave, I doubt I could. Just because he was a knight didnt mean he was above killing me in order to keep the rathari's location a secret from those that pursued him. Neither one of them looked trustworthy, despite the woman's polite demeanor and smile, and his concern for the rathari's health. I mean if I were in their situation, I would kill all who were brought here to keep his location hidden.

When the woman spoke, I came from within my own thoughts and gave her a nod, my eyes still examining the patient before me. "I pride myself as a physician to be as thorough and dedicated as possible, otherwise I disgrace the profession of medicine and healthcare." I replied, as she continued to voice her concerns for the arm. Looking at it, I couldn't help but agree.

"Even if I could save it, I for one didn't bring the right instruments in order to make those Alterations to it, and sadly I'm just not that skilled in the art of necromancy to do so. My best judgment is to simply remove the arm. Nivenhian is brimming with artificers and necromancers of far more noted skill that could simply make him a new arm." I began, getting a feel for it in my hands. Part of me wanted to read him with Semblance, to be able to truly grasp what was going on and why.

For now, though I would need to know more about them both before prying into why this young rathari was in such bad shape. "If I may ask, how well do either of you know the patient? Are you friends of his, of the family? What connects you to him? Also, if what you explained to me is true, who on earth did he offend to have Hollows and the upper class seeking his life?" I inquired, prepared to use my semblance to gain my answer should they not be so forthcoming.

As I awaited an answer I proceeded to treat the punctured lung, as that was now my more pressing medical concern. Reaching into the surgeon's kit I pulled out a rather long hollow surgical needle, setting it beside me. Placing my ear to his chest, I listened closely for which lung was collapsed from being poked by a broken rib. It was the right lung from what I could gather, and with the needle in hand, I plunged into his chest, allowing the air in the pleural space between the lung and chest wall out.

Listening to his lungs once again, it seemed to have work. The needle would need to remain for the time being so his breathing could return to its normal rhythm.

"We had little choice, Mr. Faust," spoke the siltori in common, who apparently had quite a sharp pair of ears. "I'm no physician, but I'm not so ignorant that I don't understand the filth of a place like this. If it weren't for his situation, we would have kept somewhere in the Outer district." To that, the Avialae cleared his throat with a hard push of his lungs. The siltori raises a brow to the man, to which he shakes his head. She then scoffed and returned her gaze to the medical practices that unfolded.
"Artificing and necromancy..." Started the avialae, who then turned to take a step away from the scene. The siltori looked to him a glance, then sighed.
A moment of silence followed as the silver elf considered the options available to them. Then, with a sigh, she nodded. "If that's what you think is best, then do it. It would be helpful if you could keep his elbow, however..." Her gaze then fell on the pacing avialae, and a roll of her eyes followed.
Indeed, it was the right lung that had collapsed due to a cavity of air in his chest. Easing the tube through the ribs saw the pressure there alleviate, and the lung began to reclaim its lost space. Slowly, his breathing began to normalize, and much-needed air began to redistribute itself through his body via the bloodstream. That one move saw an increase in his heart rate too, as the organ was no longer being squeezed by the shrunken air-bag.
To Cyrus's more pressing question, the siltori rose a brow. "Asmodei didn't tell you anything, did he?" She asked with a scorned glare, directed at the avialae. "Did he tell you he was an argent too? Knight Argent Valden?"
"Valris," corrected the giant winged man with a frustrated scoff. "And yes, I did."
The silver elf didn't try to hide her fury. She stood and marched to the avialae, form tense. "This is why people don't trust us, Asmodei! You keep lying to them!"
Asmodei immediately lifted his metal-wrapped hands, and backed away from the angered siltori a pace. "Well, what was I supposed to say? 'Hello, Doctor. I'm nameless. Can you come to this rat-infested shithole in Lower Nivenhain and help my nameless lizard?'" he asked with an obvious tone of sarcasm. "Sometimes it's necessary to lie, Fayeth-"
"The hell it is," she snapped, then turned back to Cyrus and bowed her head with a composing exhale. "Pardon the outburst, Doctor Faust. My husband and I don't always see eye to eye. I'll tell you everything we know; and you're more than welcome to leave if you see fit."
"Arkash, the Rathari you're treating, is nameless. My name is Fayeth, and the Avialae that led you here is Asmodei; we're both nameless too." Fayeth approached her previous seat, then returned to her sitting.
"I am Kathar, for the record. I was born nameless here in lower Nivenhain. I did not disgrace anyone to earn my place in the slums," clarified the otherwise chivalrous winged man.
Fayeth merely looked to him a glance and nodded her head. "And I, an immigrant. I was born far from here. Anyway, our relation to Arkash? None, I imagine. He caught me killing two men that had cornered me. Instead of killing him too, I made the boy promise not to speak a word of it. Of course, I had reservations about letting him live, and voiced my fears to Asmodei."
"That was when I decided to investigate the lizard, and learned of his circumstances. He worked in jobs with hollow shortages; hard labor, most of it. Most of his earnings went toward his sickly father's medicine for an incurable disease. I assume he saved the rest of his farthings for something else, as he ate from the trash and pig troughs in the outer district. His circumstances were almost identical to my childhood, and I felt a connection. Furthermore, he spoke nothing of Fayeth when I questioned him at his home."
"So you've decided to be honest now, have you?" Asked the silver elf with something of a smile that pulled at the corner of her lips.
"Well, I might as well, hadn't I?" Asmodei shook his head.
Fayeth's smile grew, and she returned to the human with her gaze. "I had my reservations. But, as it turned out, we were able to trust him. He sounded like a kindred spirit of sorts with his circumstances and his drive, so we took to watching him from afar. From there, we saw his life descend into chaos. He was beaten, robbed, branded, and suffered all sorts of other horrors, I'm sure. Finally, we decided it for the best to take him under our wings when he became reckless and desperate, but we were already too late. His home had burned down with an unidentifiable charred skeleton resting in the rubble. He was nowhere to be found. And though we looked through all of Lower Nivenhain for him, we couldn't find him."
A sullen pause followed, and Asmodei added a quiet "not in time, anyway," to which, Fayeth nodded. "Three hollows were on him when we found him, all wielding weapons. Fayeth and I interjected and dispatched the constructs, but they'd already inflicted the damage you see before you. That was three days ago."
The siltori seemed to finally be in agreement with the false argent, as she nodded for the second time in response to what he'd said. "As far as what he did... Well, he's nameless. Any attack on a Savant or Lustrian would earn this response. We don't know the specifics, but it's easy to fill in the blanks, so to say."
Another silence fell, and the avialae drew closer to the pair. "I hope you'll pardon my deception, Doctor Faust. I won't excuse my actions, but..." started the winged giant with a bow of his head.
"-You're free to withdraw from helping the rathari if you're so inclined," spoke Fayeth. Asmodei looked to her in bewilderment. "You were lured here with lies and entered a situation you weren't entirely aware of. Should you leave, I only ask that you keep this location quiet."
With that said, both the avialae and the siltori fell to silence, where they anticipated the human's answer.

"I see...." I began, those being the only words i could find myself saying at the moment as I took it all in. It seemed that I was among kindred souls, at least in Fayeth it seemed. She never batted an eye at her confession of murder, which only made me smile a bit. I couldn't blame or judge them as I continued to look over the nameless Rathari before me, Arkash as they called him.

I could relate to all of them honestly being nameless, not having a shred of entitlement to one's own name. In hindsight, I was rather glad I decided to come out here, as I was learning quite a bit from these two. Their temperament, the woman fiery yet poised and controlled, but calculative above all else. The Avialae was stoic yet firm in his beliefs and values his honor above all else.

Polar opposites for sure, but I had seen my fair share of odd couplings myself. In any case, my job was to ensure Arkash survived or at least was stable. I was not here to judge them on their methods of luring me here. When she expressed she would not blame me if I left, I could only smile, chuckling at that.

"If you are suggesting that I would abandon a patient simply because i was lied to, then you are sorely mistaken. Plus I have a compulsion to see a task through once I start it." I explained, checking the hollow needle to make sure air was properly flowing in and out of the young rathari's lungs. "Besides, we all have more in common than you think. I too was born far from Lorien, in Daravin to be exact. I was sold into slavery at a very early age and was bought by an angelic woman who I soon began to know as my true mother. It was through her I learned the medical arts. It was through her I have come to love what I do and why I do it."

As I spoke I looked into the woman's glowing crimson orbs for the next part. "I too have had to bloody my own hands to ensure others did not fall prey to violence. It is what this country does to you after a while." I stated, carefully removing the hollow needle from Arkash's chest, patching up the entry point as best I could, given I had never worked with scales before.

Looking to his arm, I found my challenge to be whether or not I can save it.
