APPEARANCE

Urs is a wisp of flesh and bone. His face is all sharp angles with dark freckles splashed across his too-pale skin. His hair is a cropped mess of black and his eyes are hazel.

PERSONALITY

Urs is an idealist, fascinated by a flawed world; and a narcissist, for believing himself to be the one to fix it.

HISTORY

Urs was born in Lower Nivenhain. Like most Nameless, he didn't expect much from a world that didn't expect much of him.

And then he met Lyr.

Lyr, who sold cheap knick-knacks when he was in town, won Urs with a quick, sly smile - and stories of a city where magic ruled. In Nivenhain, where mages were suspicious and dangerous, Urs was shocked to hear of somewhere spellcraft might buy him purpose - and station.

It was easy for Lyr to break Urs' suspicions, both of the merchant and magic. Urs was seduced by the promise of a future he thought he'd never had; life outside of the label Nameless. There were times Urs considered that there might still be a price to pay, but Lyr seemed content enough with his attentions. The merchant taught him theory first and a few tricks Urs might be officially initiated, but he never asked for much, if anything, in return.

Lyr left Urs, the first time, with the Cardinal Rune of Semblance and a few pages with scribbled techniques that might help him focus his newfound power. When he returned, he taught Urs the basics of Scrivening, to better focus and center his magical energies. On Lyr's third visit, he brought Urs a book on the history and instruction of Runeforge and asked if he'd like to see Daravin for himself.

Urs agreed and he packed to leave NIvenhain the very next day. They'd agreed, the evening prior, to meet at the corner where Lyr always had set up shop, when he was in town. Urs wasn't too surprised when he arrived and Lyr wasn't there - he'd helped him clean up and pack up his wagon before he'd left the night before to pack his own bag. And so, he waited.

By the next morning, Urs had long realized that Lyr wasn't coming to pick him up. He'd managed to collect some savings and with that, his bag, and his books and scribbled pages, he left to Daravin on the first caravan he could find.
