Appearance
Linden is a fair-skinned young man with short, curly hair and soft brown eyes who wears an easy smile on most days on his youthful face. He is average height and his body is lithe and toned from all the work he does on a daily basis despite being a noble. Unlike some of his siblings and half-siblings, Linden takes more after his human mother since he seems to lack a certain “glow” that the Hytori (half or not) naturally have from his father’s side.
Though to show the Hytori heritage, he was graced with markings along his spine with linear golden tone gradients as well as the size. It starts at the back of his neck to his lower back. The finest point at 1 cm to the widest being 9 cm.
Personality
How does one describe Linden? To his professors, he is quiet, studious, passionate, and curious. Wanting answers to things by asking why things are the way they are when there is no real answer. Sometimes can border on obsession and couple that with stubborness it can lead to many sleepless nights and mood swings until either A) he finds an answer or B) have to admit defeat at the idea that there may be no answers. Safe to say that A is preferred over B.
To close family and friends Linden is open and kind with a smile waiting. To bring those he cherishes closer to him through hugs and kisses upon their cheek. Affectionate to those he knows and can trust, but reserved from those he doesn’t. However, it seems Linden has a soft spot for children as he dotes upon his younger siblings and the other children in the clan.
As a whole, the young man is mild-mannered and tries to avoid conflict if possible. Not every battle; whether verbally, intellectually, or physically must be won. Losses have their part too and Linden does his best to roll with them if they come his way. This mentality of a silver lining allows him to be more resilient around certain stressors, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have his moments.
History
“She was a ray of light that cut through the noise and brought out a side of me that others didn’t see,” said Linden’s father, the current Finla of Clan Raellon. “Through simple grace and humility, I felt the pull of the strings of Fate that told me this woman was my truth.”
Linden always enjoyed the story of how his parents came together and how his father believed that he wouldn’t find a True Marriage like his parents. To be able to share a bond, love, and connection that can’t be explained and the sheer idea of failure wasn’t an option. Didn’t matter if he appeared like a fool as long as he could prove to his light, that she was always foremost in his mind.
Being born at the start of the Mahainric Festival that is held from the 41st of Ash to the 46th of Ash. A festival where bounties of the crops from the harvest are celebrated, thanking the Old Ones for a good age, and a reminder that Frost is just around the corner. The six days filled with music, dance, food, and for vendors and craftsmen from all over to come and sell, share or trade their wares.
This birth seemed to cement the True Marriage between his parents, Seriel and Leena since it is one of the rare times she appeared to the public. Celebrating the new life that was brought to this world as she wanted her son’s world to be filled with laughter and celebration. Every year the family will go out to join in the festivities together unless duties arise that will prevent the parents from coming along.
Growing up for Linden was average and nothing really out of the ordinary. Unless one takes into the occasional conflict between siblings as children at any age can be cruel. Some of them asking him why he doesn't look more like their father? Why didn't he have any aptitude in magic like their father? Why was he so weak? So soft? A lesson learned: one against many means the one is beaten in a fight and that words can still hurt greater than any wound. The scolding that comes later is just as disheartening as a child has to learn different lessons and stages, but disappointing their parent.
By the age of ten his parents brought another child into the world or should we say two? Fraternal twins named Adorellan (male) and Keishara (female) and they kept everyone with their hands full, especially their brother Linden. Trying to study and having them spill things on books, taking away his homework, or just being siblings took its toll, but he loved them for it. Just like him, they were different from the rest. It appears that Keishara had a natural knack for magic like their father and with her red hair that no one knows where it came from it was safe to say she was a handful. She lacked the markings but her blue eyes glowed. Adorellan had dark curly hair like Linden though his eyes were the same color as his sister's minus the glow. Instead, he got the ears with embellished tips that began to cover them as he grew older. Indeed there was never a dull moment in this household.
Unlike the others in the family who learned Common and Kyriac as their primary language before learning Vithmi and/or Kokalath; Linden decided that Common and Vithmi should be the languages he learns first before Kyriac and Kokalath. The reasoning was simple and logical. His father was the Finla of Clan Raellon who dealt with the people of Atinaw and visitors that. Linden would have time to learn his father's ancestral another time and potentially even monopolize their time which made the child secretly happy
Over the next six years, Linden traveled to the other Clans and around Atinaw with a tutor in tow. Working with different family members to expand his world. Learning new things here and there and to see the different Clans was always a treat. In some places he made friends and the young boy couldn't help it but hope that it would be for life. Only time will tell as they will all go through some growing pains and life will mold them into who they will become.
Once he reached 17 is when Linden entered the academy to study what he was passionate about. Botany and medicine. There were other classes he took to help round himself out, but they could wait for now. His love of flowers came from his mother who talked about the language they shared between people and how they were used to help others if they were respected enough. Linden even took an apprenticeship position in medicine to work under a traveling doctor named Dolur, a dwarf from Lorien, Leinburg if one wished to get more specific. The Dwarf, at first, refused to take on the young man for months until the man caved and only asked Linden one question.
"Why?"
