Appearance
It seems that despite being small in stature, Canna-Mhyreage does not disappoint his kind with his somewhat lengthy body. The size of his torso and toned lower body seem to match, although that could be blamed on his legs being slightly larger then most of his body in width causing some sort of an allusion. A great deal of his body meets the expection of a growing man in his prime—he has a very lean body type with his arms and legs being the only exception. The arms seem to be a little long and rather small in width, lacking a great deal in muscle. Perhaps the meaty part of that particular part went toward his legs.
Canna has skin the color of a toasted almond with slight markings of a hytori that favor more of a birthmark due to his half-breed status. Instead of the beautiful gold markings of a hytori covering his arms and upper chest, he has only a single gold blotch on his left hands that hardly completes a circle. He often likes to joke and call himself a defective hytori. However, he is lucky enough to at least have a few vines on him, a few intertwining around his right arm and a leaf on the small of his back like a tail.
He has a very beautiful face, some might say, with thick lips and pretty hazel eyes with long lashes. Canna-Mhyreage also has long curly hair with the golden sheen of course and long ears that hide right behind them.
Personality
You will notice that upon first meeting Canna-Mhyreage that he is a man with self-confidence and attitude. Yes, he is the kind that doesn't take no for an answer and he may put on a little show if someone does something he does not like one bit. He's the first to open his mouth and he just might as well be the last to close it. Because getting the last word seems to be his motive a majority of the time. Some might find this to be a bit of a challenge and others might it to be quite annoying. Regardless, he doesn't give a damn. He'll say how he feels and he doesn't need a cup of whiskey to get it all out his system. And that will never change.
Many often associate being bold and attitude with fiesty and hotheaded. That may be the case with some, however, that's not the case with everyone. Especially, Canna-Mhyreage. He is, in fact, very calm even when he speaks his mind and gives a little 'tude. He may roll his eyes a few times while clicking his tongue at comments he doesn't really like, that's as far as it goes though. He is not much of a fighter when it comes to work carrying that 'I'm better than you' attitude from time to time attitude gifted to him by his hytori side.
The half-breed can be a little eager time and time again about things he just doesn't know about. That seems to be the curiosity he's had as a child evolving into something much more, especially when it comes to learning something new that he thinks might be of some use to him later on down the road. Even if it is not something that he'll use in life, it's something he'll like to boast about later.
He can be considered a little charmer from time to time too being so young and almost pure in a sense. Nonetheless, his charm is almost boyish naturally coming with an innocence. There are certain things he's yet to learn and it's almost noticeable and appealing to some...
History
The birth of Canna-Mhyreage was not something that could be considered memorable. In fact, it was really something almost frivolous and unexpected for a pair of retired hytori militants who wished to continue their travels even in their old age. The couple remember a soft knock on their door and greeting another couple wearing dark cloaks-- their faces unrecognizable. The woman was in labor and the couple was happy to oblige. It seemed like the child was born in no time yet in the time it took to clean him up and wrap him in a blanket, the parents were gone. Their disappearance was like magic.
The couple was baffled but they seem to have no other choice but to raise the child like their own. Especially since he was of hytori blood. It would seem almost dishonorable to place their own in an orphanage. They named him Canna-Mhyreage, a name unusual for his kind but his adopted mother loved the flower known as canna and his father wanted to named him after a priest in a folklore. Unable to decide on a name, they chose both. However, the child would go by one or the other depending on which parent was calling on him and which name people preferred.
Learning both his names was somewhat confusing for him as a child considering it was rare that he was called by both at the same time. However, sooner rather than later he would learn the halves of his name and grow use to the pair being separated. Although he did love the sound of his names put together on occasion. Canna-Mhyreage. As a young babe, it often sounded like a sing-song that warmed his heart. When his family would settle in a new town and rent out a new house, he would sing his own name to put him to sleep at night and he would imagine it was the house greeting him.
Settling into new towns and new homes would occur very often in Canna-Mhyreage's life. You see, the boy's parents ended their youth early in life to protect their people and fight for what they believed was right so they did not travel at the pace they desired. The two even missed out on having children of their own, believing even their own relationship at the time was almost a nuisance and the passion of love to be almost a distraction, which is why Canna-Mhyreage being implemented into the old couple's life seemed almost like a blessing. It was not only a blessing for them but the half-breed as well. The couple coddled and gave him all the love they would have for both children and grandchildren. So he was able to experience the greatest amount of love as a child and if that was not enough, he also began his journey much earlier in life than others of his kind.
The boy's earliest memories could be the mountains of Atinaw, chosen for his parents love of high places and hatred of very crowded city areas. The first few years of his life, he lived in a cabin with few neighbors and a lovely garden where his learning began. Hytori language and tales with important lessons were told while harvesting tomatoes and planting cucumber seeds. He remembers accompanying his mother as she traded crops with suspicious neighbors and merchants, self-defense lessons with his father on cold nights right before bed and then on the turning point of a new year it was all over. It seems the rules of traveling is that you cannot get too comfortable and he learned that very fast.
However, he could not forget what he learned there and what he loved about it. Canna would in fact miss it once his parents trade in a home for tents and sleeping bags on soft green grass. He was coming into his teen years by this time and he absolutely dread sleeping outside. But he loved looking up at the stars as his mother spoke of both the elven gods and dragon gods. The one that stood out to him the most being Naori. In ways, he thought of his own life being almost unpredictable and chaotic like the deity's field of expertise. The stories his mother told of her only made him love her more and eventually, he would become a devoted follower without even knowing it at first. Yet once he did, Canna began speaking of becoming a priest. He wanted to give his life to the goddess. The dream grew as he scraped up what little money his parents had and bought certain books that spoke about the goddess. The excerpts of her were little and at the time his reading abilities were rough but he did his best.
The dream of being a priest was short-lived considering Canna-Mhyreage was starting his teen years and still indecisive of what he wanted to be. Canna still considered the goddess his patron but quickly realized he did not want to devote his life to being a monk. He shared this with his parents like he shared the hope of being a priest in the first place and they did not take it to heart. Canna-Mhyreage's future did not have to he determined like their future had been in the past. In fact, Canna's parents were understanding enough to know that his path would not be determined for another century (if he lived that long).
Their stay in different towns and cities had grown very short over the years and so did the half-breed's interests in various skills and hobbies. Regardless, he never stopped learning. He could never attend a normal school considering how his family came and went as they please to different places, but between his parent's stories and his hunt for a library or book store wherever they planted their feet, he learned quite a bit.
At a point, he travelled with a group of merchants. It was different than what he had grown accustomed to-- Canna-Mhyreage and his family did not travel much with other people but when they did he miraculously became a social butterfly. He even made a friend with a large rathari. It was the first friend he had ever really made.
This rathari was just as chatty as himself and he had more stories than Canna-Mhyreage's own parents. The stories Canna-Mhyreage gravitated to the most were the ones revolving around foreign courts and politics. This particular rathari seemed to lend a helping hand to some nobles and what mattered most is that he was able to speak the tongue of these different courts and politicians.
He wanted to learn a different language.
Surprisingly, the Kul'Sylmera family did not speak many languages. They were fluent in their native tongue and grew to know some common. Unfortunately, even though they were travelers and accepted the cultures of others, Canna's family were too prideful and maybe egotistical to learn the language of others. So the young man often found himself at a lost whenever he spoke to someone who was different.
The Rathari, who went by the nickname Elephant man, offered to teach him other languages and maybe how to read in these said languages. The journey they were on was somewhat long and their caravan took many stops. It was enough for him to speak broken languages and learn the rest later.
Elephant man was a great help. Canna-Mhyreage seem to bond with him and see him almost like a second father. That's why it was somewhat heartbreaking when their travel together had finally ended and the two parted ways. Canna-Mhyreage would follow his parents to yet another town and Elephant man would go...well, Canna wasn't exactly sure. He never asked the Rathari many questions and he would always regret that mistake.
Nonetheless, he kept his studies up. Canna-Mhyreage somehow manage to get books on different cities and towns, races and he would try his best to speak to others in their native tongue to correct his mistakes as well as learn something new. He could only utter little words here and there but that seemed to be enough for him.
Gradually heading into adulthood, he was becoming more intrigued by different languages and even cultures. Surprisingly, he had spent his whole life traveling the world yet there seemed to be so much he had still missed out on or maybe he just couldn't remember any of it. Either way, he was determined that the second time around he would experience everything and remember it.
Sadly, Canna-Mhyreage would experience it on his own since his parents had discussed going back to their homeland and hopefully taking him to see it. He wasn't exactly too excited about that. The hytori were a proud and diligent group, he knew this because he could see it in his parents' own eyes when they spoke of home and they were considered the more alternative kind of his people. Imagining what it feels to see his own people and face the haughty behavior the elves carry scared him. So instead of following his parents home, Canna-Mhyreage ran away.
