Appearance

Ford, a human, stands at six feet, ten inches tall. He is muscular and with the aid of some outside help, had grown considerably muscular into the bodybuilder body type. His eyes are kind and blue, and although he has facial hair, his face still holds a softness in terms of being supportive and not hardened. Most of his skin is tanned, and his blonde hair grows lighter the longer he stays in the sun. His clothing usually switches from casual to maybe a little less casual, but there’s only one fancier set of clothing he keeps for special occasions. Although tall and well enough muscular, the air about him invites people to want to speak with him rather than taking one look at him and feeling shunned.

Since his foray into Radenor, Ford has found himself marked in multiple ways. He carries a brand that rests plainly as day on the back of his neck and has a mark on his left palm. There are no piercings in his ears, nose, or anywhere else on his body, and there are no stains or fresh lines of paint/body art. Lastly, the only thing that does seem weathered on his body is his hands. From honing his skills in unarmed combat as well as working with his hands out in the wild to provide for himself and his family, they have become a little more coarse with weathering than they had when he had simply stayed in Sociology.

Ford has received the Argent Knight Mutagen I and II, giving him beyond human strength, size, endurance, and resistance to the cold.

Personality

Ford knows the world he lives in can be dark and scary, but that does not stop him from trying to be a ray of sunshine. In a world where many would look for the quickest way to make a coin, find their instant gratification, or one-up the other, he still holds politeness and kindness at his core.

Growing up in Grisic culture, he was taught to be proud of his people and that, eventually, their way would be the way of the world. Through his childhood, Ford’s decisions to treat others with kindness, thinking that was truly the Grisic way, had molded him for the future he did not know he had in store for him. Always willing to give someone the shirt off his back and give them a place out of the rain and the cold, even if he has to give up his place next to the hearth, he’ll do it.

Some have mistaken this for weakness. Ford, although kind and warm-hearted, is not without his faults. With his big heart comes the potential for overzealousness, attachment, and even making connections with things that don’t exist. He has known loss, and he has known abandonment, but he knows that regardless of any of that, his way was the true way. So as often as he gives out kind words or offers kind gestures, he is also watching, learning, and listening.

History

The past…
Just before the end of year 4586, the bright star of the Edevane family had been born to the Grisic Empire. He was named Ford Edevane and was the second son of Frankfurt and Amelia Edevane. Ford always had a bright air around him, always curious and always taking in what he was saying. Always looking contemplative whenever something new came across his field of vision. His father, Frankfurt (Frank to those close to him), was a historical anthropologist, taking his life’s effort to investigate, explore, and enshrine the empire's glorious past for future generations. Ford’s mother, Amelia, was a sociologist and dedicated her life to studying the empire’s inhabitants as they socialized and created and destroyed bonds with one another. As he grew, it became apparent that even at a young age, Ford was a scholar, which Frankfurt and Amelia respectively felt would be geared towards each of the subjects of their life studies.

When he came of age to begin centralized schooling, he took in all the information and made it all make sense to him. And while young, this worked fine. He was the exemplary curious mind the Grisic could hope for that would work towards their goals of studying their faith and ways to prolong them even further. It was not until he was around sixteen that a particular question came across Ford’s mind that he could not quell. The infamous question? “…If everyone loves us and this is the way of the world as it’s meant to be, why do other nations not conform?” This bled into another question and another question until, eventually, he no longer felt the same pride in his people that his mother and father felt. Although he was still a Griscan-born man, he now had questions that he knew were unpopular and punishable with violent ends.

Regardless of his questions, Ford prized his education as the most important aspect of his life. The more knowledge Ford could accumulate, the more knowledge he could put towards his curiosities. Entering university in 4606, Ford took guidance from both of his parents, and rather than focusing on just one side of their ideologies, he chose to undertake both. In university, he had made connections and lifelong friendships that would see him through some of the hardest times of his life. Focusing on anthropological and sociological studies, Ford also found himself dabbling in some archaeology, which, combined with all three, had given him a well-rounded study of the knowledge the Grisic empire would provide him with.

In his last year of university, Ford found himself at the mercy of his family. An influential, renowned anthropologist had talked Frankfurt Edevane into combining their families into one by betrothing and creating a prearranged marriage to Ford. Emily Fontaine, a down-to-earth yet dull woman studying economics, was to be his wife, and the wedding was to be had three weeks after graduation from university. This way, he could begin his new life after university and grow his family, adding to the proud population of the empire. Graduation came and went, and Ford had given it a fair shot at getting to know Emily, but he was so involved with his studies that he had neglected her. Agreeing to meet his parents at Emily’s home, they had come to surprise her and found her in the most degrading situation she could be, in flagrante delicto with one of her Economics professors. This meant the wedding was called off, and a part of Ford was happy to have this happen.

…Yet, in the end, it seemed the blame was turned back onto Ford and the Edevane family. It was claimed that she had strayed from her preconceived marriage to the Edevane family due to her betrothed showing zero interest in the woman, regardless of being involved with his studies. This besmirched the Edevane name until Ford’s older brother Salvatore stepped into the spotlight. Not only was he going to accept a research position with his father as an anthropologist, but he was also going to marry and remedy his younger brother’s blunder.

The new direction…
After recovering from the social disaster that was his to-be marriage, Ford had looked into places where he could begin his research. Still, because of his blunder and Salvatore's move to save the family name, it was almost a disgrace to be named Ford Edevane. At this time, he questioned why it was his fault when it was his betrothed-to-be who sullied herself… This line of thought took him down many paths until he began questioning the laws that he had felt were justified within the Grisic Empire… Was it dutiful? Was it lawful? He began to have questions, and with questions, that curiosity he had exhibited as a child grew into an impassioned roaring fire within his soul. He needed answers; thus, he plans to venture North for a limited time. He planned to head towards Daravin and possibly Sil-Elaine. He ventured across nations and saw sights he had only heard about before.

His travels had first brought him through Tyrclaid to the city of Alfsos. Within this city, he had found an overabundance of people, a mixing of races, and nobody seemed to care. It was an immediate culture shock to the Griscian. Humans there, elves over there, even a few Orkhai. Nobody seemed to care what the other was doing as long as two things were met. The first? Whatever job you were doing, do it well, and the second? Loyalty and strong bonds with those of your fellow citizens. It was something almost awe-inspiring to the young traveler. He’d simply traveled here and there within the districts, where he came across an Orkish pairing; one was almost dropping a box, to which Ford had come to the rescue. Helping the brute of a mortal with the box, he had gained a friend without really doing much, just being a decent person. This was his first step into studying something not tainted by Grisic teachings. For some time, he spent with the Orkhai, meeting their acquaintances and other friends while also learning the ways of the land. Here, he learned how to defend himself in myriad ways just because people were simply worried for him and his travels. It was such a unique and beloved experience that he would always remember he had a possible future home and friends to return to.

Eventually, curiosity urged him on, and he had to leave the families to live their lives; Ford could not afford to remain as an Orkhai’s guest. In contrast, his curiosities burned, and his family back home had expected him back by now. Having returned home, he relayed some of his findings, not everything, to his parents, who were fascinated by the scientific aspect. Still, they quickly spoke of Salvatore and how well he was upholding the Edevane name within the community. Of course, Salvatore would later confide in Ford that he merely did it to provide his little brother the freedom not many of the Empire would get. He was proud of his younger brother for thinking outside of the box and wanting to find answers to questions he could not even think of. He didn’t have to understand his brother to respect his courage and individuality, though he had to keep that reverence to a minimum.

Once more, Ford was off on his travels, finding himself in Daravin by 4612. Finding quite the intricate and curious artifacts and details about the Unbroken Empire, he could not put his finger on it. Still, something otherworldly seemed to call to him from Daravin, despite the openness of magic use. He had witnessed magic in his travels, but nothing ever like what he had witnessed in Daravin. Seeing how opposite a person could be in practice and behavior to his people was intriguing. It fascinated him to no end. It was almost too much information to interview, study, and process data for mortals living with magic as if it was meant to be rather than a blight on the world that needed to be wiped from the world’s sheets. It was conflicting while also being eye-opening for the Griscian. Daravinic life was something he would have to take notes on and ponder for some time to come. During his travels in Daravin, his first witnessing of magics led to the Griscian entertaining his first masquerade. It was uniquely awkward how much saying your family had even a little bit of money influenced one's chances of experiencing life unfamiliar to vagabonds. During his first masquerade, Ford learned the intricacies of maneuvering social etiquette, dancing with the sharks, and finding the use of words nearly as threatening as a weapon in the right sense. Still, something urged the man of Grisic to continue on to these masquerades, learning to hide in plain sight with and without a mask, with or without a hood to obscure his face. And only when that pull to remain in Daravin had left him could he finally move on with his travels and studies.

The present…
Having a brief stint in Lorien, Ford’s travels brought him to Radenor. A kingdom in battles on many fronts, yet they did not cave into the pressure. They stood their ground and proved to be heartier people than most would give them credit for. It was admirable, and Ford had to study them. Going back and forth throughout Radenor’s borders, he had finally set up a temporary residence by 4622. It was here he stored most of his knowledge and findings. Scrolls, tomes, and parchments filled with observations, sketches, traces of artifacts, and a couple of pieces of clothing or tools that had been given him as gifts along the way were kept there. Once again, it was time to set out and see where his curious mind would take him.

Ford's travels had taken him to Radenor, a place steeped in heartiness and seemingly stuck in the past. It was the perfect place to learn about an entirely new concept and social structure of a Kyngdom. In order to complete this, he needed to immerse himself into something that the people were going to be directly involved with. Thus, his searching for an in, had found fruit, in the opportunity to work for an organization. It was unorthodox, being from Grisic, but he had the opportunity to interview with someone for a position right up his alley in regards to sociology. The position was with The Covenant and his meeting was with someone of import by the name of Taelian von Klade. The meeting building was impressive, and his interviewer had been even more impressive. It was rare for Ford to find someone who made him think on his feet, but Lord von Klade had done just that. As the interview process had come to a close, there had been an invitation to coffee the next day to discuss what the new position would entail.

...What was meant to be a mere morning meeting turned to an invitation to wine tasting, which turned into a marriage and a vow that could never be unbroken, or at least in Ford's mind, it was impervious to damage. In a rapid amount of time, Ford had gone from lone, Griscian sociologist to marrying Taelian, having adventures in forests and taking on Kyng Uldred and winning. As life continues however, Ford has faced many new obstacles and has begun to alter his outlook on life. Taelian and life with the Covenant was changing Ford and bringing him down a path not many could or would follow...
