One cannot remove the piety from Camille and be left with the same person. Belief is the glue that holds together her fractured sense of self, and it provides her with a wellspring of hope to draw from. She is smart and perceptive, but this rarely comes across in a straightforward manner. She has difficulty communicating clearly and is easily frustrated by this fact, especially by people who insist to take what she says literally rather than interpreting the spirit of the message. She shows remarkable compassion towards her fellow inquisitors, matched only by the brutality with which she treats most anyone else.
Camille cares little for politics, power, or control for their own sakes. She believes she was born to further the prophecies of Ulen, and takes this belief to extremes beyond her own birth as a Velsign in the Inquisition; even the most irrelevant circumstances are interpreted as omens and signs from Ulen, and how they are known to be positive or negative is intuited in a way only Camille herself could ever understand. Prone to bouts of depression and various other emotional disturbances, she tends to lock herself away for days at a time for fasting and prayer. She takes a highly ritualistic approach to most everything, from bathing and meals to magic and combat, going so far as to claiming that she has tasted the Tears of Sin of every heretic she has killed.
Camille has pitch black hair and wings to match that starkly contrast with her pale, nearly transparent skin. Even in the sun she rarely tans, though she is prone to freckling. She dresses modestly even when unarmored. She is strong, too, from a life devoted to training for physical combat and for magic. From her news and below is a quick transition to scaly, bird-like talons, and when forced to walk rather than fly she makes use of a cane.
Compared to most anyone else on Atharen, Camille is exceptionally tall. Compared to other Velsign, she was the metaphorical runt of the litter, stopping her growth at only 6'10". However, her wingspan surpasses that of most others, and in exchange for lesser agility, she has speed and strength. In combination with her abnormal feet, she is capable of grasping and lifting an average sized human straight into the air.
Camille was born a picture of health and survived her initiation into Mentalism mere hours after her birth. Despite the obvious corruption of her feet, it was not until she was a child that the second corruption affecting the size of her wings became apparent. Puberty affected her wingspan the greatest, and the combined weight of her wings, her relatively short stature, and her abnormal feet resulted in her use of a cane to walk and assist with balance when she isn't able to fly, a fact that continues to present day.
Puberty also resulted in her greatest mood changes, and she found herself growing distant and even ostracized from her peers because of her appearance and her growing odd behavior. She grew frustrated with her inability to be "normal" and it was from here that she grew even further devoted to the Inquisition and Ulen, her zeal surpassing what was ever expected of even a Velsign born into this path. By Ulen's will, she survived further initiation into Resonance. With her drive to succeed and religious fervor, it was no surprise when she passed her exam and became a Rector. It is rare that anyone petitions her to be their mentor, and even rarer that she accepts the Acolyte under her wing, but it is not unheard of, and she currently mentors only one Acolyte.
