Vesper has created a lathe.

Concept
A lathe is for machining parts into desired shapes. It can be used to precisely carve teeth into gears or grind down metals into precise shapes, and saves an inordinate amount of time with creating parts. It makes sense for the setting that these should be invented already, and historically the first lathe was invested in 1751.
Design
This is an Artificing-powered lathe with alternating speeds via pedal control. It has a transmission, three arms, each with a replaceable disk for grinding metal against metal to shape it, as well as a drill on the small-disked arm to drill holes into materials. There are clamps in front of a chair to slot things in and keep them steady, and the arms are swapped out by a gear change. A wheel can be tilted that allows the lathe arm to spiral in or out towards an object.
Skills
Vesper is a Master-level Engineer, Apprentice Artificer, and Apprentice Smith
This thread should remain unlocked so I can submit updates to the design as necessary.
