Company: Guildmates | Thoughts: I can experience Radenor | Mood: Excited

This was a typical job for his guild members, patrolling the border as there had been rumors of bandits roaming the borders between where Jorikford and Telima meet Daravin. The sting of the cold kissed Malikyth's skin as he and his group moved through the border route in order to rendevous with a merc group that was contracted as extra muscle. Rumors had been circling for a few days that bandits were in the area, and the citizens in the countryside were at risk.

Of course, actions such as this couldnt go unpunished, and the power that be sent out a call. "Patrol the borders and deal with anything that threatens the safety of our people" was all they heard before being mobilized into action. They sometimes got the bare minimum in terms of direction and orders, but Malikyth and his fellow guildmates were competent to figure out things if they needed to. The warrior subconsciously hoped for there to be some form of fighting if they happened upon the raiders, but he didn't get such hopes up.

A small force of those available was taking part in this countermeasure. They would first however meet up with the merc group, then divide and patrol the border then come back to their rendevous point. Malikyth had the luck of being a part of this endeavor, as it was a perfect chance to see Radenor the way he wished to by experiencing firsthand. This was a fact Malikyth was excited about since he could finally see and feel the land for itself, as he was always cooped up in the guild tower only able to see the country from out his dorm room window.

They were approaching the rendevous point, and Malikyth could see figures in the distance, noting them as the ones they were meeting, and if they weren't, well it would be an added bonus to spill some blood.

Among a group of mercenaries gathered to melee the threats that surrounded the border, Arthur had taken up the commission from Tilema and met the small company after arriving a few days prior. Not contrary to the guild’s contract the mercenaries would be paid well for their services, only lacking the health benefits and guarantee of safety. The newly introduced group of rag tag hires were to meet with the mage guild at a rendezvous point. “Legal mages,” they called them.

His mother’s warnings of magic played circles at the forefront of his thoughts. Magic is a danger to us all, it corrupts, changes and even drives men mad. Could it really be true?

“Watch out lad,” one of the older mercs warned Arthur before they approached “they don’t hire soldiers for missions like this just in case one of those freaks goes nut.”

Wordless, the young man nodded at the sentiment and gazed upon the group of hood strangers with a sense of unease. Magic was as foreign of a concept to him as giving birth was to a chicken. The individuals who knew the costs and chose it willingly, were as bold as they were innately intimidating. Not that he truly understood them. Ah well, he shrugged and decided he better learn to work with it. His eyes briefly drifted down toward his bow. In these kinds of circumstances, Arthur did not work great as a front liner but he was a decent runner and scout. Albeit not an incredibly quiet one sometimes.

At the very least he looked the part, dressed in a leather suit of armour with a hooded cloak, and a bow slung on the back of his quiver. If not for his peers lesser care for complexion, he might not look like the dumb naïve prince on a never ending quest to save his girlfriend. Much to his dismay and he was sure everybody else’s, he was not a prince, nor did he have a girlfriend.

“Hello!” Arthur waved enthusiastically to the group of mages as they closed the distance “Glad to see you’re all here in one piece. Any idea what’s going on then? Our instructions were rubbish.”

Upon arriving the group were greeted by the archer of the merc band, his enthusiasm causing the mages to quirk their brows. In total, there were five mages and seven mercs in total, it was a small enough group to patrol the border and deal with whatever may arise upon their search. The question of more information was brought up, and the leader of Malikyth's group looked to the archer with discerning eyes.

His name was Arik, and he was older, a veteran by some standards but surely one of the few mages within his guild with a spotless record of mission completions. He closed his eyes shaking his head. Your orders are just as vague as ours. We are merely just acting off of rumors of all things, but a job is a job. We go and patrol the border, and if nothing happens or we find nothing, we get paid for an easy job... he looked all members of the merc group over with eyes that could peel away at a person's soul.

And if things do get interesting, well I just hope you lot are as capable as you portray yourselves to be. he spat, his words cutting sharp and quickly as he motioned for Malikyth and the other mages to form up. While Arik and the merc band leader headed the group in the front, Malikyth and the archer were put in the back, covering the rear. As they moved The mage couldn't help but be awe-stricken by the countryside. It had been yours since he was able to be out in the fresh air of the countryside.

It made him long for the freedom he once held before being discovered by the mage guild, and it reminded him how much it made his blood boil at his core.

Met by several sets of lifted brows and curious looks, Arthur offered a nod at Arik’s words. So much for a warm welcome. He shrugged at the other mercenaries; he already knew his place in this group. If there was such a thing as a sign pegged with the words, “All the help they could get,” that could be pinned on his forehead, it would have been.

The group wandered in a staggered column formation over the frost bitten fields of grass that clung to the soft rays of morning sun that could do naught but threaten the bite of the cold. Wildlife had gone to sleep for the winter save what remained of the few mammals with coats enough to sustain their warmth and a few birds that chirped merrily in the distance.

There was a simple barren kind of beauty to Frost that could not be captured in any other season that Arthur came to love. His gaze wandered away from the scenery and onto the other younger looking mage who had been stationed at the back with him. A tall, built man that in comparison to his compatriots carried an aura of charm. “I want to do paintings like this one day” Arthur pointed beyond the horizon in the magical companion stationed at his side “Hopefully we can get through this together so I can, I’m Arthur. I look forward to working with you.”

He couldn't help but take in a deep breath of the air as he held the rear of the patrol, finding it much more exhilarating than the stale air of the Guild Tower he was forcefully confined to. He wished he could get as close to bare naked as he could just to bask in nature, but he would settle for looking to the landscape of the countryside, the rolling hills that stretched on forever. It was truly a work of art to his eyes, and he appreciated it even more, not knowing when the next time he would be able to come out in the open like this.

He was so wrapped up in his own enthrallment he almost didn't hear the other young man whom he was partnered with to watch the rear flank. The thought of having a painting of the country landscape would nice. Looking to the young man he gave him a polite smile and nodded. "If that's the case, I would like to buy a painting when that day comes." he said, looking the young man over, now able to drink the man in.

He sure didnt look like a warrior, he didn't look like he had ever been in a fight before and he was worried that the man wouldn't last in this endeavor. "Malikyth, and if things get dicey, just stay behind me, and I'll keep you covered." he assured calling forth his dual swords. He would have more than enough time to admire nature, but work came first.
