[Genteven Solo] Loose Lips, Scattered Parchments and Sticky Fingers

5th of Glade, 4623
As the Draedan peeks through the crack of the door, slightly ajar but barely noticeable by most. The thief's amber-hued gaze takes a moment to collect as much information as possible from what little he could gather.
At the moment, the thief was currently looking towards a dimly lit hallway; the braziers that hung on the wall gave off light, orange hues, with its reach weakening with distance as the light waned. For a moment, Jared couldn't help but hold his breath as he listened to the ambient noise to determine if anyone was nearby or if he could continue slipping out of his hiding spot and start his exploration.
Flaring his nose momentarily as he took a deep breath, the thief could only hear his heartbeat slightly racing. The inhalation and exhalation of his breath through his nose, muffled by his cloth mask, and the crackling wood nestled in multiple braziers that covered the hallway with a citrine hue.
"Seems like no one is home for the time being, but that is a load of bullcrap… Probably attending to some stuff in other parts of the building. It shouldn't be hard to wander quietly and nab a few things before leaving. There is an unlikely chance that there would be a mage, but being home to the land of mages, I shouldn't bring my hopes too high in possibly avoiding one."
As the seconds become minutes, the amber-eyed scoundrel begins to push the door slightly further from the frame, exposing more of his view so he can slip through and start transversing through the hallway and the building itself.
It was easy enough for the thief to fit through small gaps due to his slight frame, and the amber-eyed thief noted that his agility had improved vastly over the past couple of months. The thief thought his skills were okay and that the only difference was pre and post-divinity and not being bedridden from advanced stages of Mageblight.
It was from this point onwards that caution was required as the thief stepped into the open hallway, slowly closing the door behind him, which made a stifled click as if nothing had ever changed unless one was to examine the area for clues such as slightly carefully scuffles dust marks or noticing a minor change in the environment.
In a split moment, the thief had to decide which end of the hallway he wanted to visit first. The young Draedan agreed within himself in a split second. As the thief approached the left, his hunch told him something of interest was present.
Making his way slowly towards the left end of the hallway he had just entered, the thief takes a moment to peek around the corner to see what was yet revealed. An open room with multiple desks stood, a few guardsmen chatting away into the night, and some heads at their desks focused on paperwork.
“Did you hear that the strings of crimes have shot back up again after Frost has ended… Fucking thieves and scoundrels making it tough for everyone, and nothing like a fresh start to Glade to entice rats to come out of the gutters, no?”
“Yea, It sucks, but it keeps us busy. I am fucking exhausted from doing all the paperwork, and the commander is yapping on about weeding out the rats, but I can’t blame him. One of his friends, who owns a store, was robbed and is left picking up the pieces. The business's patron has withdrawn their support, and the owner is in deep shit.”
“I heard about that; some well-known merchant had some stuff robbed, and there was a scuffle that occurred, apparently according to some senior guards, that a small figure managed to escape them by using the environment against them. They were also skilled mages, but apparently, this thief was also a mage that used some sort of black fluid to move around. To be honest, after the chase was over and a bit of anger being vented out, they admitted that the thief in question was rather skilled, but what they were more surprised about was how he had ‘Nightfall’, whatever that meant. Still, that is restricted to the Omen… So I don’t know what to make of it….”
The thief couldn’t help but raise a brow while listening to the conversation that piped his interest. Guardsmen have noted his adventures due to using Nightfall, but now that was a different story. In some strange sense, recalling the moment of vaulting over a wall and leaving a pair of guards in the dust was a fun moment of Jared’s naive and innocent times as a simple mortal thief, but now, things have changed for the better, in his opinion. Still retaining much of who he was, the thief couldn’t help but smile for a moment in the corner of his eye. Then, a locked box caught the Draedan’s interest.
“That looks enticing, I might be able to nab it right under their nose if I am careful enough, and they seem pretty distracted. Let's put this plan into motion, just your skills alone….”
Taking a leap of faith, the thief begins to charge at the goalpost, briefly taking a moment to see what he could use for cover. Then, the amber-eyed thief begins to creep forward while keeping his body low to the ground, using various objects such as unoccupied desks as cover as he inches closer to his target, which is a locked chest.
Upon closer inspection, due to his enhanced eyesight, Jared noted the security measure used for the lock was a combination lock which required some time. Still, with any certainty, the point is to delay the thief’s attempt as much as possible, but it wasn’t like the thief to encounter a variety of locks. In this case, a combination lock would be slightly challenging due to his relative inexperience in dealing with them. Most of the waves that the Draedan has dealt with were simple doors, chests and other goodies, but safe-cracking was relatively new for the thief if he was honest.
Jared couldn’t help but start shaking a little as his nerves were slowly being worn down from the stress of potentially being caught in enemy territory, but also, this was an excellent way to test his limits and where his shortcomings were. As a professional thief, he needed to understand where he needed to improve so that the experienced gain could cover any mistakes he could make during an operation.
But, the Alistian street rat was already past the border of no return and had to commit to the action he was taking now fully. As Jared creeps closer to the safebox in question, it is within arm's length, and so far, no one has noticed his presence, but now the real game begins.
As the thief moved closer to the safebox, his amber-eyed gaze took a moment to examine the locked box. Jared couldn’t help but feel his nerves somewhat flighty, but the opportunity to nab whatever was inside was so close and tempting that the thief decided to go for it.
Extending his reach out to the locked box, the thief takes a moment to let his divinity flow out of his soul, concentrating into a usable form that would aid him in navigating the situation. From this point, his Divine Spark started to manifest itself into his own identity, apart from his divine father’s heritage.
A calling from within, merely ushering the word ‘Bypass’;
His blackened gloved hands had a brief outline of a midnight purple hue which surprised the thief for a moment as to why his divinity was coloured in such a way, but he would need to ask Taelian when he has the chance to do so since he has more experience with being a Draedan. Then, extending his reach over to the locked box, the purple energy being exuded out of Jared’s hands began to leak into the object in question. Then, something that could only be described as magical was performed.
The manipulated divine energy started to weasel its way through the box and nestle into the security device; The thief could feel every nook and cranny as his divinity was an extension of himself. It was a different take on trying to manipulate a lock without using any tools, instead just his sheer concentration, the sensation of the safe and his innate skills when picking locks and safes.
The thief noted that as the safe dial began to manipulate itself from within, the strings of purplish would start to work from within, and the usual clicks that one could hear if one were near were suppressed before the thief knew it. His divinity over the safe faded, and no one was less the wiser that the Draedan had picked the safe in an unusual manner.
Slightly stunned, the thief couldn’t help but look at these hands briefly. He is surprised by what just happened but quickly suppresses his emotions due to the proximity of danger; Quickly looking back to see if the guards have moved, nothing seems out of place, but now the thief has managed to crack the safe open, the contents were his for the taking.
